Early August

Under an overcast sky

It was a lazy early August day perfect for picnicking in the grassy field, at least these cattle thought so,

What the cattle might see if they'd looked up

Largest square: sparrow in amongst the white sweet clover. Moving clockwise: Canada thistles still blooming in some places, tough much of it has gone to seed; Choke cherries; ripening Virginiia creeper berries; dogwood berries; and burdock in flower.

Little one trying to keep up with the big guys

I didn't know those thistles were Canada thistles. Is there a difference between them and burdock in the last photo?

Burdock is surprisingly attractive before it goes to seed. A handsome herd of cattle. Your photos really look like paintings -beautiful.

Beautiful berries and thistle shots. I enjoy seeing the cattle grazing. Remind me of when we lived in Tennessee back in the 70s. Our house was surrounded by cattle. Very peaceful.

Cattle do not care much for esthetics so they only look up to continue grazing or to see danger. Their concern for plants, "Is it good to eat?" Not being bovine myself, I do appreciate your photos.

The farm photos are so idyllic and reminiscent of my youth that I get pangs of longing for those days! The collage is, as usual, superb!
