White-throated Sparrow (Zontrichia albicollis)
Usually these handsome sparrows stay close yo the ground but this wonderfully cooperative one sat on some tree branches at my eye level and fairly close to where I was standing.
Dreaming of black oil sunflower seeds?
In summer they eat copious amounts of insects and some berries but now their diet consists mostly of seeds.
Considering his options?
Most White-throated Sparrows spend their summers in Canada and their winters in the U.S. But a few live all year close to Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence Seaway.

Just beautiful, your capture of it is even more incredible. I find it silly, but I have a neighbor or two (men) that think it's stupid that I feed sparrows around here! I just laugh at them their loss!

We have them around here. But never would I be able to take such wonderful pictures of them. Now I can see him very close up and he is so clear and detailed! He was posing for you! Are you sure you didn't bribe him with bread crumbs? The first two pictures I just can't get over how wonderful they are.
