Brown llama with spots
Yesterday (Friday, Boxing Day in Canada) was a warm enough day for two llamas to be out in a farmer's field munching dried grass. Both were curious about me but even more interested in the munchies. They seemed to be happy that Christmas and Boxing Day were brown this year instead of white.
Whitish llama
Llamas are herd animals and apparently it's cruel to have only one because they like each others company. I have seen many farms with only one llama and so far not one of them has complained to me. But these two did seem happy to be together in the same field.
I am linking to Saturday Critters HERE.

I nice looking couple they are.
Oh I would hate to be alone all day too! Great post of two friends together. Hope you had a good Christmas. Greetings Jo
I have never seen a spotted Llama like that before. Lovely creatures.
I can't remember ever seeing wool made from llamas, although I know there must be a local market for it.
i like the markings on the first one, they are so pretty and I am glad they have each other. dogs and cats and almost all animals are happier with at least one of their own kind...just like people
It's so appropriate to see Llamas at Christmas ... as in, "Behold the Llama God."
I love Llamas, and you did them nicely.
Hello EG, I hope you had a wonderful Boxing Day.. The llamas are cute critters. Great post and photos. Thank you in advance for linking up and sharing your post today.! I wish you and your family a happy New Year! Have a great weekend!
These llamas are adorably! Great shots EG. Happy New Year!
We had friends who had llama's for a while to protect their sheep from coyotes. The llama was very curious. The other critters would ignore us and she would always show up to check us out.
so cute. i've never seen spotted ones before. :)
Sometimes we see a single lama in with a flock of sheep up here. Maybe they enjoy the company while they guard the sheep!
Quite a good pair of llamas. I know they're good shepherds, primarily because they've got a bred loathing of canines, which would include predators like coyotes.
I love that spotted llama!
Happy Belated Boxing Day!
I like Spotty at top. His mum was frightened by a giraffe!

Some llamas are introverts. :)
Hi Tina,
Love the Llamas! The brown one has a lovely coat. I wonder if it acts as a camouflage.
Have a Beautiful Day!
Peace :)
Those are some interesting-looking llamas! I've seen a few at farms in our area.
Beautiful animals! I don't think I've seen a spotted llama before.
They make a lovely pair!
They are lovely! What a beautiful creature they are. Of course when ever I see Llamas now I always think of the children's book series, Llama, Llama red pajamas!
I didnt know that about llamas. Pretty pictures.
I didn't know that about llamas either!! They are beautiful!! Have a great weekend -- hard to believe another new year is almost here!! The older I get the quicker time flies!!!
Excellent photos of these fine looking animals.
I have never seen a spotted llama. They are funny animals, I like them!
There's something quite endearing about llamas.
I did not know about the herd thing! What I do know is that a llama spit in the face of our DIL, nasty!
What beautiful critters! I just love their wool to make sweaters, too.
We wouldn't like to be alone so I can totally understand them wanting some company, EG! Another warm day today!!
That first one has a pretty speckled coat. They are interesting animals. Nice captures!
Are they mama llamas? Look like they are having a good holiday. Hope you had one, too!
It's nice to animals and have nice pictures. Regards.
If I were dating llamas, I might ask the top llama out.
Too cute.
Sometimes farmers keep a llama with sheep. I wonder if they are friends? I hear that they protect the sheep.
I haven't seen Llamas that colour before. maybe they are young ones.
They really are the strangest looking creatures :) haven't seen a brown spotty one before EG, glad you caught a pair, not good to be alone at this time of the year!
Reminds me of this ditty from when I was little:
The one L lama, he's a priest
The two L llama, he's a beast
And I will bet my silk pyjama
There isn't any three L lllama.
-- O. Nash, to which a fire chief replied that occasionally
his department responded to something like a "three L lllama."
Ooooh is that the promise of a nice warm woolly sweater? :-)
That first guy sure has a lot of spots!!
theres a lama farm not far from here :)
Wonderful llamas!
