In need of TLC
This photo is from my archives, taken a little over a year ago in Upstate New York. Even though the exterior of the house needed tons of work, the owners felt festive enough to decorate the doors with wreaths and the railings with garlands.
I haven't been back to see if now the house is in better shape.
In celebration of the old and wonderful "stuff", I am connecting to Rubbish Tuesday HERE.

It is a shame to see a classic like this deteriorating a way.
It does look very faded... but it's still very apparent that it was, and could be, a beautiful home again!
Must have been a real gem in its time and like it could be still.
Looks like we have a great set of windows here. Must say some TLC needed too. Throw some paint on it.
It is mindboggling how something so lovely can be left in disrepair. However, I do admire the festive mood of the people who live there.
Home, Sweet, Home to someone!!
What a lovely old home. Glad someone is still celebrating there. Perhaps it will get a fix up in the future.

Oh what a grand house. I can imagine the stories there. Hug B
There is still potential there, so it's worth saving!
Lovely building, I hope they will be able to fix it....
oohhhh what a beautiful building!!! I hope someone splashes it with some tlc!!!
I love the colours and the gingerbread!!! Maybe they have only started to fix it up, and the exterior is not high on the list of priorities...
That house has so much potential!!
it is beautiful and old old is a good thing in a house and it looks so festive even when in need of paint. would make a great card.
Red is a festive colour and no doubt gave them a happier Christmas. But a bit of "spit and polish" would no doubt have helped, too. I think you should make a return trip - this is very interesting photographic subject!
wow! so many details in that! lots of work, but worth it, hopefully!
If I had the wherewithal I would buy this in a heartbeat and fix it up. That's my kind of house - looks like it's got bones, heck, a coat of paint would do wonders.
I love those style of houses. Imagine how it would look restored.
It has a lot of character and personality. Perhaps they've fixed it up since you were there last.
All it needs is some TLC and a new paint job.
Oh what a pity to see it failing like that. I'll bet it was magnificent in its time. And still could be.
This is a gorgeous house, with all the beautiful and intricate woodwork. What a shame, they must no have the money to fix it up, but they do have a little to decorate. Sad.
Such a great old house and so sad to see it deteriorating, but then who knows the owners situation?? At least they do have the Christmas spirit!! Have a great week, EG!
Wow, what a gorgeous old house! I love all the fancy woodwork and it makes me feel good to see the Christmas decorations on it. Someone cares. :)
What a beautiful old building !
I absolutely love the touch of red!
The red door with the Christmas decoration is really gorgeous! Adorable picture!

An old fashion lady, with lot of charm !
In spite of the state of the house it makes a wonderful picture!
This house is worth a health because it is beautiful. Regards.
It's gorgeous! let's hope it has been fixed up a bit at least.
I can't imagine how difficult and costly it would be to "fix up" one of these old beauties. I wish i had the energy AND the money!
I hope they have been able to fix her up
she would have been very grand once upon a time
Wonderful house- love the white and red together!

Wonderful picture and its great that they decorated the outside.
Oh, oh, oh, I love this picture! What a lovely old house!!!!!!!
If I would have money inmy pocket, I would renovate this house:) The eves is beautiful!
I love Victorian houses (although never been in one) and it makes me sad to see them deteriorate or in a state of decay.
Worth a Thousand Words
That does look like a beautiful old place! Great shot!
That has obviously been a very elaborate home at one time.
It has great bones, but that condition is pretty frightening.
Oh goodness, I'd decorate too, of course some fresh paint would be nice too...but this house could again be the lovely, stately place I know it was once. Great festive look too.
It still looks attractive in a 'shabby chic' kind of way.
Decay is often so interesting -- so random with interesting textures. Nice architecture here too.
