Parade Continued

Old firetruck decorated for the Mount Albert parade

Santa Claus came to town last Saturday but walking or riding on floats ahead of him were community groups such as Scouts, local businesses, Crime Stoppers, children's after school programs....all decked out as angels, shepherds, sheep, elves and festive whatevers.

The parade was short in length - by Toronto standards - but long in spirit, waves and smiles.

Mt. Albert Fire Department

This old firetruck is now owned by a local businessman who's a kid at heart. When this fire truck was in service, Mount Albert had it's own fire department. Now Mount Albert is one of the communities that makes up the Town of East Gwillimbury.

In celebration of the old and wonderful "stuff", I  am connecting to Rubbish Tuesday HERE.

The old fire truck is beautiful! I enjoyed seeing several at a parade this summer. Around here I don't think there are any parades in the winter; I guess we're not as tough as Canadians in some respects!

Wonderful fire truck, glad someone "saved" it. Looks like they were having a good time.

What a marvelous truck! I think the stuffed doggie on top is just the icing on the cake in terms of decoration.

P.S. It looks like comment word verification got turned on for your blog. Seems to be a problem with lots of blogs today - thought you would like to know.

Those small parades are special because they are local and everyone knows each other.

These are wonderful pictures! I love the wreaths around the wheel covers and the candy canes on the sides. It rained really hard on our parade, but they carried on. I did not go because of the rain.

A short parade this time of year up there seems like the best way to go. Looks like everybody was having a great time though.

Our Santa paradev was Satudrdray too. I am a kea (5 to 7 year olds) scout leader and my eldest son is a scout leader as I watched our parade I did think it would have been neat too have our scouts involved. There hasnt been a parade here for several years and not much notice this year - maybe next year :)

I really like the firetruck :)
