Built in 1880, 135 years ago
This poor old house in Uxbridge, Ontario must have been a beauty in its day, part of a farm. But now it sits very close to a round-about on a busy road. ...which may explain the new fence.
Needs some TLC
The yellow bricks are still in very good condition and I hope someone is planning to paint the shutters and gingerbread trim.
A closer look

my type of house that. Agree with you the outside needs a bit of work. I am glad you explained why they had put that fence up, otherwise it didn't make sense....
That's my kind of house :)
And I like the fence, even though it doesn't match the house.
Have a fine day

It just seems to be crying out for attention.
Oh it is a beauty. Hug B
It is a beautiful house, just need a little paint.. Have a happy Monday!
I am always joyful when I see old houses still standing and taken care of....
An old but very beautiful house!
Interesting old house. If someone put up a fence maybe they will continue to work on the place.

Such beautiful detail in that old house. Quite the privacy fence. Have a lovely Monday.
so beautiful, i hope they preserve it and don't let it fall down or be torn down. to bad it is close to the round a bout.
I like the term 'gingerbread trim'! I think this is still a pretty beautiful house
Certainly could use a bit of TLC.
They should have spent the money from the fence on repairing the shutters.
looks like a beautiful place to hang out and take some photos. great job.
It could use some attention, but the bare bones, as they say, make it worthwhile.
I do hope they do the work do the work on this house to maintain it. Love the shutters and ornate apex roof work
Ah, yes. Progress. It's a difficult thing...
What a lovely old home. All it needs is some paint and loving care.
I posted a couple of pictures of the inside of the Douglas Mansion today.
A grand looking place indeed!
Even though it's beginning to look a bit tired, it still has lots of character and beauty.
Oh that's such a pretty old house EG, lovely details.. now I really want someone to give it the love it deserves.
That is a neat looking house. Too bad they had to build a road on top of it.
It makes me shiver to see such beauty neglected. The new fence thankfully shows some needed concern, however.
I feel the same as Penelope!! I do hate to see such a beautiful old home being neglected, but hopefully the new fence does indeed show the concern needed to update and save the house! Terrific captures as always! Hope you have a great week!
It takes a lot of $$$ to maintain a house like that. Perhaps their focus is with the interior.
Love the details on the house.
hope they'll save it. i find the fence quite interesting with the panel sections.
Those old structures have so much character and individuality. Very beautiful. Needs a little TLC though.
Let's hope that someone with some $$ comes along to save it, EG!
So people are living there. What a wonderful old house. It is a shame they needed to put up such a fence, but I can see how they needed it.
Even if the house requires some work, it is still quite beautiful. Hopefully, work will be done and the building be preserved. Good find, Tina!
Have a Beautiful Day!
Peace :)
It makes me wonder about how it looks inside. Some sanding and paint would go a long way for the outside.
It needs attention badly, can see it was once a beautiful home.
Jestem zachwycona! Przepiękne zdjęcia! Serdecznie pozdrawiam.
I love this beautiful home! Beautiful photos !!
Somehow I thing the fence fitted. Give a lick or two with white paint and it is all there.
What lovely colours in that building. Makes it easy to overlook the run down state of it
These are great old homes, and I like it when they have the year set in stone. We've been visiting Peterborough a lot recently, and the old homes there are many ... unfortunately, a lot are rented to university students and fall into disrepair very quickly. Keeping these grand old ladies in their prime is a full-time job.

It's sad when roads are built and old places like this lose their land. It's a beautiful old home.
Great photos and it has been beautiful in its day. I wonder if many of our modern houses will last that long.
Let's have a paint party! This house is so worthy of being refreshed!
A beauty of a house and home. I hope it gets the cosmetic work done. The fence hides it but also protects it. 1880--whew!

This old house is beautiful and deserves better...
Love the gingerbread!
That's a great looking house. Just needs a little TLC.
What a shame. That fence really doesn't match the type and age of the house. I guess both the fence and the house need lots of money spending on them, money the owner may not have.
It looks like it deserves a very noble setting, overlooking countryside.
Oh well if they won't, I will!
Such beautiful architecture. I love the sunlight on the exterior...you've captured the old house and brought lots of character to it!!
A fading beauty but still beautiful. If looks like it's gotten new windows, at least. You don't see brick Victorians on the west coast...they don't survive earthquakes.
Oh, I would love to life there!!! Fantastic building, realy a fading beauty!
Thank you for sharing and all my best from Austria

That's a very beautiful house. I also hope someone thinks of fixing what has to be fixed to maintain its beauty.
It does need some tlc, but the bare bones show the beauty of yesteryear. Abandoned building are a bonus find though for the photographer. Lovely light in these images.
it just needs a little tlc!! it did not look that old in the first picture!!
cute gingerbread trim, i always like that!!!
What a great house!
Looks like a beauty!
Creative shots of a beautiful house even now!
Happy Week to you,
artmusedog and carol
I hope it gets the love and attention it deserves. They did a nice job on the fence.
Lovely details on this window. It just need a little TLC!
What a treasure. I hope it gets restored. I would love to see inside!
What a priceless old farm house and what a shame that progress is crouding it. I agree, it would be wonderful for it to get a bit of a facelift as it is truly unique and beautiful. I love old stuff ... wish we could hear the stories this old house could tell ...

That is a nice house but it definitely needs a little TLC.
It has so much potential, EG, but heavy nearby traffic might doom it. That would be a shame.
I love that trim! I always think of you when I see gingerbread trim...I think we both really love it.
I love the window...the way the brick is turned on end above it. Just everything about it.
I like the blue in these frames.
Looks like a Victorian beauty. It will take some cash to bring it back to its original charm.
Such a shame to see such a beautifully built house to be in such sad shape.
lol, this "castle" type house looks like childrens toys. But I like the colors.
