Closeup of beaver
I think this may be a young beaver as it let me get quite close to take these photos. I didn't have my telephoto with me. OOPS! Well, I was lucky that the beaver was more interested in chomping down twigs than in worrying about that crazy lady with one BIG, clicking eye looking at it.
Right outside the entrance to it's lodge
I did eventually sneak in too close and the beaver scurried down the hole.
A second beaver?
A few minutes later (I was still there but further away taking photos of the tree it had been peeling bark off) I noticed movement out of the corner of my eye. This beaver was not nearly so tolerant and did not hang around long. Notice its tail. I think this beaver has been in a war.
I am linking to Saturday Critters HERE.

Unusual to get this close to any wild animal. I look forward to seeing your photos when you encounter a bear. :) Be careful Camera Girl.
Great pictures of this cute beaver!
Love the first one, looks like he's a strong guy with strong hands :))
Have a beautiful weekend!

Oh Wow A Beaver! I have only ever seen one once, and that was in a nature reserve. You managed some fab shots.
never seen a beaver in the wild, you are lucky.
Great shots....thanks for sharing this!
The close-up gives a very detailed look at the beaver.

Amazing to get shots of two beavers - I've never had them stay around long enough to even focus the camera.
Perfection Tina, lovely Beaver.
Hello Tina, awesome close ups of the beaver! They usually spook easily around me! Thanks for linking up, happy weekend!
Amazing photos you captured.
Amazing photos you captured.
wow!! GREAT close-ups of the beaver! lucky you, that he let you get so near.
they are cute critters.
and that other beaver...with the war-torn tail! another fantastic shot.
last year when i was living about an hour north of here, and me & hubby were canoeing on the pond...we kept hearing this 'slap' 'slap' on the water. it turned out to be a beaver!! the first time...and only time i ever saw one in person.
thanks for sharing!! have a great weekend.
I see a lot of their handiwork down near the canal where I walk but I've never been able to catch them out in the open, much less to photograph them.
What cute little critters! Fabulous shots
It's the Beav. Where's Wally?
What a special experience EG, very nice series of shots of this hard working creature.
You got some great photos of the beavers. I especially like your closeup.
Glad that first beaver was tolerant of you and modeled for those two shots. Great thing to see in the wild!
so very cool!
Wow! You've just made my day! I saw a couple of beavers once in the PNW but they noticed me!
I saw beavers last year swimming at the Stouffville reservoir, but I don't know where their lodge is.
You must walk softly- I need lessons in how to stalk critters because more than likely I always scare them off. Great shots!
Beautiful shots of these two. I have seen beavers in the wild, but in the water, and taking a shot was not possible.
Great shots for the day as always and I do love the close-ups of the beavers! I've seen them from time to time here in Oregon, but not often. Hope your weekend is off to a great start!! Enjoy!
Wow, did you ever capture a commanding close up. Very sweet.
The best photos I've seen in a long while. Amazing.

WOW! Marvelous captures. I have never seen one in the wild. have a great weekend.
We were deliriously happy when we saw our first beavers, the Great Scot and I, that we sat for hours watching them work on their lodge. It wasn't until it had grown too dark to see that we realised we hadn't gotten a single photo!
Good thing you aren't afflicted with 'forgotthecameraitis'; love these captures!
Amazing photos, what a guy !
oooo, so cool...i don't think i have ever seen one this close up!!
have a happy weekend!!!!
Fabulous, EG! So wonderful to see these pics.
Absolutely amazing shots! Brava!
WOW WOW!! Fabulous pictures! AND unbelievable that this is not zoomed and you got this close!! The arm and hand looks like leather, I guess because it is waterproof. We have beavers out back, but I have never managed a shot. LOVE it!
It's just wonderful when the critters are not afraid of the human wanting pictures. These are super shots.
Wonderful shots of the beavers!
Happy Weekend to you,
artmusedog and carol
ps we got more snow last night and this morning ~ pray Spring comes to New England soon! xo
Awesome close ups of a beaver! Take care
I'm SO impressed! I've never seen a beaver live, in the wild, much less had a chance to photograph two so nicely. I love these amazing shots!
I have never seen a beaver although I'm told they live nearby here in East Texas.
Great pics. I have seen several beaver dams but I have never seen a beaver in the wild.
My goodness you were close to the beaver. Awesome shots!
Awesome shots of the beavers. They're cute critters.
Stunning photos! How fun to see the beaver! :)
Nice closeups, E.G.C.G.!
~
Awesome photos of the beavers! I've only seen them from a distance a couple of times for just a few seconds. Great experience for you.
What an exciting sighting! And such great photos! Wow! I would love to see beaver up close. It reminds me of a book I read as a young adult that quickly became one of my favorites (I own three copies of it and have read it a half a dozen times!) called Mrs. Mike. It's based on a true story of a young Boston girl who is sent to Canada and falls in love with a Mounty. There are many scenes in the book about the Canadian wildlife and the Blackfeet Indians. It's a lovely book.
Wow! Not sure I've ever seen a beaver so up-close and personal.
Great shots.
=)
