Snow Geese (Chen caerulescens)
This is the closest I've ever gotten to Snow Geese...and I used a long lens and cropped heavily...so I wasn't all that close.
A dull day with a few rays of sun shining through
There were only two in this pond with many, many Canada Geese. Here in a pond just north of Toronto if someone is lucky enough to see a Snow Goose, it's usually flying with a gaggle of travelling Canada Geese, which tend to be very alert and noisy if they see a human.
I wonder what they're looking at
I guess I was there long enough for the geese to forget about me. I was excited when I spotted the Snow Geese heading across the pond to a sand spit on my side. But they chose to stay at the far end of the spit, still quite far from me for great photos.
I am connecting to Stewart M's Wild Bird Wednesday HERE

Nice models you found.
They guys are on epic journeys and still have a long way to go.
Great shots and these are such beautiful birds. I say a whole field of these last year while driving down the highway.... stopped and got a few shots. They are lovely
I like the symmetry in that last shot.
Nice to see them. Very, very scarce visitors to these shores unfortunately.
Great photos of some amazing models!
Congrats on your sighting.. They are pretty geese.. Great shots!
I suppose I'll never see a snow goose in Texas. My loss.
How wonderful to see and great shots these are.
Such attractive birds. I'm happy you were able to show them to us even if it meant a long lens and cropping.
Darla
they look a lot like domestic white geese but not quite the same. i have only seen wild geese twice, the kind that come down here for winter and fly back to you, green heads...
Very nice captures. I've never seen one but I guess they don't range this far east.
They make a beautiful couple !
Love them. And we don't see them much at all.
how very pretty. i've seen them fly over here, but that's it!
Great captures and they are handsome fellows!! Haven't seen any of these in Portland, but did once in Seattle. Hope your week is going well!! Enjoy!!
What a pretty pair.
You did a great job with your photos. I've only seen Snow Geese a handful of times in my life.
They posed beautifully for you. I don't get to see Snow Geese so it's always fun to see them in your photos. Great shots!
I wonder if those are any of the ones I photographed on migration through Pennsylvania.
What an awesome find! We have some white geese around here, but maybe they are not the snow geese? Now I will remember how these look and see if I can find any!
I think your shots are wonderful, EG!
White geese? Every day I learn something new about birds from your wonderful posts!
They look like a happy couple. I hope they stay and raise a gaggle of little snowflakes!
Snow geese without snow. Sheesh... :-)
Beautiful shots. I used to see large fields filled with Snow Gees in spring, but now I get excited to see one or two birds.
Yet another bird on my must see list. You got some great shots of the geese. I'm very jealous.
They posed very well for your camera.
No! No! No!
After this winter's accumulation of whiteness I can't even bare to look at anything with the word 'snow' in it. Sorry ducks!
I have never seen one, so your pix are perfect in my book!...:)JP
They Are wonderful birds ... I have been lucky enough to see them in person a few times and your pictures are just great!
Great photos!! xx
I have never seen snow geese before. How exciting for you to take their pictures. Even though you were far away as you said, your pictures turned out so well.
They look very serious in that last shot.
I see the, here in NJ and can get pretty close to them. They are very tame here because they hang in areas with lots of peeps!!
I should proof read before I hit publish. I forgot to say great captures!!
I would be thrilled to be close enough to get shots even half this good. Love seeing them this close...and I think they are fine photos.
Cute couple.
They're beautiful! I'd love to see some of these birds. We've had small flocks of trumpeter swans fly through this region and I've managed to get about as close as you seem to have gotten to your geese...so near and yet so far!
Nicely shown

You did well to capture them at all, great series!
I am glad that you were able to see these beautiful geese. Regards.
Also a beautiful couple!
Snow geese! They are so beautiful. Lucky you! Enjoy migration!
Great photos! I missed the ones that were here I'm sure. Really beautiful birds!
You really like birds !
I like the Snow Geese. As you know zillions winter over here. I have never seen any in the water though---they just gobble gobble in the farmers fields until their go north. Glad you got some good pics.
