Decaying Log Barn

Old barn door

Seen from the road - a dead end dirt road - this barn is on a cattle ranch that's still being used, although the barn is not...at least, I think it's not being used.

View of the entire log barn

The metal roof is still good but some of the logs are decaying badly.

Great view of the log barn. But here in Africa the wood wouldn't even get a chance to decay; it would be used as firewood! Have a great day. Jo

You can see right through! Amazing though how these structures survive in so many years.

I would have thought one big wind and the whole thing would have been down. Lovely old building to photograph though.

It is a shame to see these old buildings left unused and falling apart, but I imagine the cost to repair it would be astronomical. Great for photos though. I bet lots of that wood could be recycled into other projects

that barn is probably at least 100 years old. I LOVE IT! a piece of history.

Oh, well, so long as the roof stays in place. :-)

Nice find Camera Girl. The barn is in bad shape but it is still interesting enough to photograph.

The decaying log barn holds interesting viewing... great captures

Phew...I don't think this poor thing would last through a big wind! I can't imagine what it would be used for at this point...maybe shelter for some farm animals.

That's a great old barn.

I love how blue the door looks in your first photo. That is exactly the colour I'd choose to paint the outside of my house if I didn't already live in a yellow brick condo

Despite decay, it certainly makes a lovely photo.

You find the most beautiful things! I think this barn may have a few years left.

I find myself wondering how many years are left in it.

What an incredible building! xx

I can't speak for the owner, but I could see the turmoil; if you need to use it you need to fix it up, but if you love the rustic look of it, it would be hard to do. Thanks for sharing!

Cool, I love the grey patina of the old wood. I have a relative who owns and lives on a ranch in Idaho where their house and most of the barns and other outbuildings are made out of logs. They keep them up though.

I like seeing old barns but hate it when they are neglected. I doubt this one would keep anything in.

Wonderful captures EG. It sure would be draughty inside! I enjoy seeing old buildings like this and wonder about their history. Thank you for sharing.

Great photos of the old barn. I wonder when it was built. It must have taken a lot of time and effort to build with logs like that.

It's a pity that it is left dying. It actually doesn't look too old. I was thinking of himeless people in tge city. Why not put them there and start farming...but well, just a thought.

It's the best for photographer to find and take photos of old things.

Now there's a barn I wish could talk...or that we knew the history. I would dearly love to know how old it is.
