Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcineellus)
Birders
Within minutes of someone sighting it, other birders began arriving to see it and take photos.
Preening and flapping its wings
My husband and I just happened to be in the area so we got to see it too. Serendipity!
I am connecting to Stewart M's Wild Bird Wednesday HERE

I betcha that Ibis had no idea how wildly popular he was. :-)
Star of the Lake :)
I have never seen one before. I'm still learning from you Camera Girl.
It is a beautiful bird. You were lucky to be there at the same time.
What a beauty! The first ibis I've seen with this colouring, what a stunner.
What a special sighting. I'm so glad you were nearby and of course had a camera.

that indeed is a beautiful bird and you were very lucky to be able to see it. Was there just the one?

I trust that Tina's lens put those little babies to shame. ;)
What a monster that one is.
Great catch. A welcomed change from the all white bird.

Nice shots of the bird. I enjoyed the one of the photographers too! :)
Terrific capture of a handsome, long-legged fellow!! Looks as though he was posing for all the photographers!! Enjoy your day!!
Quite a distinctive looking bird!
You were in the right place at the right time! Nice shots. And you also captured the big lens photographers, a rare species all it's own.
The birders and their cameras are even more spectacular than this wonderful bird!
So wonderful that you got to see this beautiful bird, and your photos are to be admired, fantastic! I enjoyed the ones of the birders with those long camera lenses too.
Gorgeous captures! Those are some serious lenses.
Wow, what an awesome find. Terrific photos!
Wow, what a bird. Reminds me a little of the dodo from Alice in Wonderland.
Brilliant Glossy Ibis images Tina, and I like the one with twitchers.

What an awesome sight!
Beautiful shots of the Glossy ibis.. It is a beauty! Congrats on your sighting..
Oh wow, love the I'm spreading my wings shot!
WOW!!! Both on the bird and those lenses.
Wow! He's a beaut!
Its beak is not as curved as some of the other ibis and it comes really far into its face. I was unable to figure out where the eye was until the last photo. I love the color of the feathers. Such a rich auburn.
Great photos of the Glossy Ibis - that would be a bird well worth seeing!
What a gorgeous bird! I've never seen one of these before either. The iridescent quality of the dark wing feathers gives such a sculpted look. The leaping shot with the wings outspread is fantastically dramatic. I'm wondering what communication system the birders have, do they text each other?
They are fabulous looking birds. Glad you were able to see it and then take such good pictures of it. What a treat.
WOW! You were just in the right place at the right time. This is a beautiful looking bird and you got fabulous shots of it.
Wow! Wonderful pictures! I don not think I have ever seen one, even on blogs! He is so big, glossy and impressive!

Oh my...this is a beauty for sure. How great that you were at the right place at the right time and able to capture it.
How exciting! What a dramatic looking bird. Wonderful photos of a bird I will probably never see in real life, so thanks for sharing.
Lucky you to see this bird and to capture him!
WOW, awesome bird. You are one lucky lady. It's a good thing you ALWAYS have a camera with you, CameraGirl!
You got some great photographs. Based on your pics of the other birders it looks like they have to be strong to carry those big lens. And wealthy to be able to buy them.
Hi Tina,
Looks like some folks with huge lenses showed up to take photos of this adorable bird. I don't know what lens you use - your photos rock! Well done!!
Have a Beautiful Day!
Peace :)
Impressive lenses.
That's an amazing bird! I can't imagine seeing one like that around here so I was comforted that they're not common in your area. What a great stroke of luck that you saw it. Great shots!
A real star!

Nice! Especially the first photo. White ibis(es) are very common in Florida, but I don't recall seeing this darker relation.
What a neat working bird! Great to see the birders taking advantage of the moment.
Dearest EG; Wow, gorgeous looking ibis♡♡♡ I only knew white one :-) Thank you very much for the word "Serendipity"(^_^)v
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
