Orioles love oranges
My husband and I were out birding on Thursday when we saw this atop a wooden seed feeder in a bird lover's side yard - an orange cut in two, one half on one end of the feeder and...
Sticky feet?
the second half on the other side. The oriole tried both. (I'm wondering how the bird dealt with his juicy feet afterwards.)
Another oriole
Later I saw another oriole on the opposite side of the woods we were walking through. This male was singing a lovely song probably to attract a mate.

A beautiful and colour bird. After years of not seeing any I got excited this week when there was a pair in my backyard. They found nothing of interest and moved on.
perhaps Andyshould have put an orange out for them to stay! They are such beautiful birds and great shots. Have a wonderful weekend.
The Orioles are beautiful birds, I love their colors. Great sighting and photos. Thank you so much for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!
It has been ages since I've seen one in person.
beautiful bird, so pretty! Have a good weekend.
Gotta love the pics with the oranges.
Oh my, what a glowing fella. I think I'd always have an orange handy!
Oh the light in these shots is amazing. Not only is the oriole beautiful but the light surrounding....just wonderful :)
he is so beautiful and almost the shade of the orange.. maybe they have a birdbath for sticky feet...
I keep watching for them here . . I'm told they pass through our area . . BUT, until now - on your post - i hadn't seen one . . SO, that you for the excellent view. (You're right, i wonder what they do with sticky feet . . hmmm)
A beautiful bird. I've seen only twice here. My orange halves do a good job attracting squirrels.
I've seen them about here, not a lot but some. Beautiful shot with the orange.
That last shot is so beautiful! We had oranges in the yard of our previous house and sometimes birds would peck them to get the juice.
I guess these things just lick their little "feet" to get 'em clean! :)
Such a pretty bird! I have never seen one in person.
Beautiful photos!
Love the color of the Orioles and the oranges too!
They are such pretty birds. I'm not sure we have them here. Maybe once in a while but I don't think I've ever seen one. My mother was the bird person in the family and I'm not much of a birder.

What stunning photos. The light is just right.
i've seen them here (rarely) and gotten them to eat grape jelly. amazing how they find what they need/prefer.
Beautiful shots of the orioles! I saw a couple last weekend, but wasn't able to zoom in far enough/quickly enough to get very clear photos.
Oh, such superb pics and such beautiful birds!! You do find and capture the so much beauty and what a great way to start my day!! Thank you, as always for sharing!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
I'm always so excited to see orioles at our place. Such beauty in color and song! Great photos!
Great photos! The Orioles are starting to show up here as well. I have my Grape Jelly and Oranges out. They love both.
So that's how they get their orange color....from eating oranges! :) Nice photos!
Great sightings! Orioles are such gorgeous birds!
Beautiful captures!

That first one couldn't be better if you'd posed it yourself. It's a keeper!
=)
I've heard a few this spring but haven't been able to spot them! I need to put out oranges too! ;-)
It looks so tiny! Excellent images!
Healthy living the good life and looking super pretty. That's the way to do it.

Stunning bird shots!
Even though the oriole with the sticky feet was very enchanting, I absolutely loved the last photo. Stunning.
Wonderful photos! I've tried this with oranges. Alas, no luck1
My Orioles like the oranges, but they really go after the grape jelly.
These orioles are so cute, wonderful pictures!
Beautiful pics, they are so nice !
They are beautiful !!!
Great pictures !
Great shots, now I'm wondering maybe I can attract some orioles!
~
What a great idea!
Beautiful captures! For the first time I had a male and female Oriole at my hummingbird feeder. They're gone now. I wish I had know about the orange, I'd have put one out for them!
I suppose that would make for some awfully sticky feet. Great captures!
the sunshine sure makes this little fellow standout. I love this shot.
