Boardwalk with railing, Plum Island, Massachusetts
The nature reserve on Plum Island must be fabulous during the spring bird migrations as it was a pleasure in late June when I was there. I wish I'd had more time to spend there.
Steep walkway down
I loved the lichen growing on some of the decaying trees.

yes I looks like it would be a fantastic place in spring when the trees did not hae so many leaves and you could see the birds better. Love the boardwalk and it certainly needs that rail.
Like Margaret, I enjoy the access boardwalks like this afford to otherwise nearly inaccessible places.
Maravilhosas fotos! beijos,chica
Love the access boardwalk, but would never be able to brave it!
That is the longest boardwalk I've ever seen, don't think my achy breaky knees could cope with those steps though!
I am sure Plum Island is a great place to visit all the time. I like the boardwalk/fence shots. Have a happy day!
Nice photos. The boardwalk and the surroundings blend well together. Glad you were going downhill. My carriage would have to be waiting at the end.
So beautiful. I would make a mental note, "Slippery when wet!"
Such a famous boardwalk!
Greetings from Germany
My sister lived for a time on Plum Island. Always thought it was a humorous name for an island. Few plums too, I bet. Too cold.
What an interesting walkway. Must have taken some great effort to build it.

some of my plum trees have lichens too.
Oh I would love to spend time there too. Love the walkway and views. Hug B
Both of my daughters live on Plum Island! It is a beautiful place. Did you know that Rachel Carson (Silent Spring author) spent quite a bit of time at that reserve?

that boardwalk through all the vegetation is so pretty and there was a time i could have walked it. not sure if i could now, with all those stairs.
What an interesting and neat area. The boardwalk looks strong, but never have liked to go on one.
I could spend hours on that boardwalk!
What a wonderful boardwalk fence in the trees. Love these photos. Such an interesting place to visit and explore.
It would be fun to walk.
Have a great day!

A lovely place to stroll and admire the birds. It's very facilitate staircase with balustradmi. Greetings.
Such an attractive walkway...I have always like lichen.
I would love to take a walk on that boardwalk.
Very reminiscent of the 1001 Steps in my neck of the woods that leads to watery view. A chorus of birds and whistling trains are sometimes heard amid the greenery. But many folks go down up and down the stairs just for the exercise!
I love the walkway but sure don't want to be on it without the fence! Neat selection for Good Fences!
Neat find but ones who are out of shape. Sure need to take deep breaths in and out slowly for this walking journey.
looks like such a pretty walk...i used railing for good fences today too!
That's quite the staircase! Nice pics.
I can imagine those steps add up!
This is lovely!

Superb capture and angle on the boardwalk! Love this natural trail amid abundance of green.
That is quite the walkway!
Love that walkway through the trees.
I always enjoy a walk on such a boardwalk - get to see things you wouldn't normally see! Neat shots, EG!
Looks like a wonderful place for birding or just a walk. Just beautiful!
That is a nicely made boardwalk.
Boardwalks are wonderful and we're fortunate to have a lot of them in Florida - through swamps over mangrove islands across sand dunes - great fun and this looks like one I would enjoy a lot.
Looks like a nice place for a walk.
What a gorgeous place, and I imagine it's alive with birds during the summer, too, if you've got time to take it in.
looks SO rich in your shots!

Wow thats a long walk. I am sure it is a lovely place to visit.
Thanks for sharing.
That's quite a boardwalk! Very appealing.
Looks like it would have been a rough walk before the boardwalk was installed. I like that it is so natural looking.
I love these walkways going out through bush land and swamps EG, as you say, brilliant way to see birds in their natural surroundings.
I'd love to take a walk on that with my camera!
