Juvenile Wood Duck swimming to shore on an overcast day
Three juveniles headed for shore and my camera. How strange since usually when Wood Ducks see me they head off in the opposite direction.
Looking for treats
Truth be told, they weren't coming my way to be photo models. No, a local birder feeds cracked corn to two mute swans that live in this pond and the swans had left a little behind. The juvies were willing workers, the clean-up crew.

Hello EG, pretty captures of the Wood Ducks. I like the clean up crew! Have a happy day!
Ah, so it was the corn they wanted. :-)
Wonderful photos with clarity and detail.
Handsome little birds aren't they! And I think they like having their pictures taken.
I love the colours of their feathers, so pretty. Super photos as always.
These are such pretty little ducks! Great shots
You certainly know both your flowers and your birds.
I like the markings on the Wood Ducks.

What a very smart looking duck in photo number one! So darling.
You have the absolute best duck photos out there!
I knew it. There had to be food involved.
Attractive little fellow. I really like that first shot with the water reflections.

Elegant and photogenic!
A great clean-up crew indeed and what handsome little buggers they are!! Beautiful captures as always and a beautiful way to start my day!! Hope your week is going well!! Enjoy!!
Beautiful captures of this one, EG!
They are gorgeous! Funny how browns and tans can be just as beautiful as any other color.
ooohhhh they are just so cute!! great captures!!!!
They look so sweet! I would not have known that they were Wood Ducks.
It's strange. I've noticed that as well with the WODU. Most of the time they hide but there are moments when they don't mind getting close to people. Congrats on the closeups!
But they do look like models tho :) Ducks here aren't afraid of people too, I think they got used to people feeding them.
Sweet little things!
Beautiful birds and great to see them so close.
not yet grown up but already a beauty :) Nice shots :)
Great pictures, well captured...
They have such sweet faces.
Wow - such fine markings on them!
Loved the first photo, in particular.
