Easterly end of Rosedale Lock
Saturday of the labour Day weekend was a warm summer day, a lovely one for photographing reflections. This is Rosedale lock on the Trent-Severn Waterway between Lake Ontario and Georgian Bay (Lake Huron). This lock, said to be the second busiest on the entire system, connects Cameron Lake on the east to Balsam Lake on the west.
Closing the easterly gate
First boat in the lock, tied up while water fills the lock
Different water levels
Here you can see that the water on the westerly side is higher than the water on the east side. The reflections are so like liquid gold.
Opening the westerly gates
Open!
Boats on the westerly side will soon be cleared to enter the lock and this time the water level will be lowered.

I always like to watch locks at work: it is a quite simple thing, but I still find it fascinating...
I like people watching at locks, too! Great photos. Bye summer!

Good morning, it is fun watching the boats in the lock. The process is interesting. Happy Friday, have a great weekend!

i love the light in the last two photos and my favorite is the one with dog on board waiting for the lock to fill
Really cool water reflections!

Locks are endlessly interesting.
That is cool. I would like to witness the whole process.
I really enjoy watching the boats go through locks. Whenever I have had family visitors from UK or Australia, we always take a day trip to Niagara, and stop at the Welland Canal on the way to see the big tankers go through the locks.
The lock system on that one is quite similar to the system on our Canal.
Great reflections and it does look like a great trip!! Thanks as always for sharing the fun!! Have a wonderful weekend!!
It is always so fascinating to watch any locks at work. Great late summer reflections, EG!
I would love to sit and watch them work...it is something I would never have thought of. At least pretty sure I wouldn't have.
I love locks....such a genius invention! And what lovely reflections too!
I like the gold reflections. I don't think I'd like sleeping on that little boat, however.
Fascinating and lovely old tech that still works!

a beautiful lock with very colorful fences :) I like locks but we don´t have many of them :)
Interesting waterway! Seems the family having a leisure time at the boat... along with their pet :)
These are lovely shots and I find the whole lock thing most interesting.
