High up on a dead tree branch
Although Bald Eagles are common in some parts of North America, they aren't here. So when a birding friend showed us fabulous photos he had taken on a Lake Ontario beach, my husband and I were eager to see if we could find the eagle too. Well, I did find the juvenile but it was perched high above my head and it was a very windy day. I had trouble holding my camera steady. I'm thinking I will try again on a calmer day...with my tripod!
This bird is quite young. It's bill is still black and it's head feathers have not yet turned white.
I am connecting to Stewart M's Wild Bird Wednesday HERE

Brilliant image
Nice find Camera Girl. If I saw this guy on my own I would never have guess he is a Bald Eagle.
Nothing wrong with this?!
Ainda jovem mas muito imponente.
Um abraço e continuação de uma boa semana.
Gorgeous capture of the juvie Eagle. He looks so proud! Happy Tuesday!
All the power and majesty but without the crowning glory. Great shot in spite of the wind.
even the young ones have an attitude about them.
he is awe inspiring. i love the way his feathers lay together. so much beautiful texture to him
It amazes me how large a juvenile can be. We have bald eagles in our neck of the woods and were lucky enough to have a nest nearby a few years ago. Wonderful capture. So much detail.
Obviously a great find for you. I suppose its parents are teaching it to hunt. Maybe you'll get a family shot!
Great shot. He looks pretty impressive for a juvenile
WoW, what a treat for you to see.
You captured an excellent shot even without the tripod EG. Magnificent predator!
Already the proud stance shows, even in the youngster that it is!
Wonderful, EG! I just plain get so excited sometimes I shake...I cannot tell you were unsteady at all in this shot.
Still it is an excellent capture on the eagle!
He looks quite distinguished!
Magnificent and a bit scary...
How exciting for you, and good job! It's a great hand held shot.
That is thrilling, EG! It's so wonderful that they are making a comeback.
Pretty excellent shot. I can never get close to these birds:) One of these days.....the desert can be a tricky place to see one:)
Tripod..schmipod...you got a great picture regardless! Gorgeous bird!

wonderful!
When you see a close-up of an eagle like that, you see the muscles in the chest and the massive feet. Definitely a bird deserving of respect!
Great photo.
Honestly it's a great picture ... I'd be so happy if I had taken it. Great sighting!
Wonderful!
A very handsome bird!
Yes, I can see he is a juvenile. You caught him pretty nicely, even without a tripod.
What a great find and a great shot. We have eagle watching day in February. The local Wildlife Division puts out meat for the eagles and people can come watch them and take pictures. We see a lot of golden eagles and a few bald eagles in our area. The golden eagles are huge and magnificent. I am always in awe when I see one of these birds.
