Sunset through the Clouds/ Sky Watch

This photo was taken on a day that had been totally overcast until about 4:00pm. The clouds began to break in the west and the sun shown through as it went down. So I grabbed my camera and...

At about 4:15 this is what it looked like. A few minutes later the sun was again hidden by clouds but I'd got my shot!

Yes, you have to be quick with these sky-shots, especially if there are clouds involved. Great photo.

And it's a sunset in the cold, I could already see that when I saw the top of the photo and not yet the snow. Strange, that's knowledge that is in our head but if asked to define a winter sunset that would be hard.

Very cheerful sky.

It really is amazing how little light there is right now. When it breaks through you gotta' be ready! Love that sunset. Only two more days and we turn around towards the light!
