What a great catch! I almost didn't notice the horse -- the sunset was so beautiful@

So neat. What a great horse. He is conserving his strength until he has to work!!! LOL Very bucolic. I love it. MB

Beautiful. Sometimes I can't tell if the sun is rising or setting until I read the captions. Is there a way to determine which is which from a photo?

Aw, this is just too cute and too serene! I'm sure that horse has dozed off for the night - things look so peaceful I'm sure I would too!

Great picture, EG... Love that sky--with the sun going down. Gorgeous!

That place looks like peace, like if I looked in the dictionary under peace, this would be the picture. Awesome... serenity.

He looks like he is asleep to me. I was always amazed that all animals can get any rest at all while standing up on their feet but they do.

Rune Eide said...

To me, the horse and the stable make the picture - a magnificent atmosphere when the setting sun is added.

PS Doesn't horses sleep standing?

Judy said...

Wonderful sleepy horse at sunset! A quiet, peaceful image. Makes one feel all is well with the world.

George said...

Maybe he's just contemplating the beauty of that sunset. What a gorgeous photo.

lovely photo........I wonder do horses sleep standing up or laying down?

Beautiful, and there's something almost horse-y about the cloud, not sure what - a bit of mane, a flying tail?

Quiet Paths said...

What a great shot; that is a very impressive heavy horse.

Now that is a peaceful photo, I absolutely love it.

Have a great weekend!

Too funny! - and beautiful all at the same time. He does look like he's asleep.

LOVE this sky! Ours was like this before in the afternoon yesterday. (I was locked in a meeting at sunset, so I've no idea how it turned out.) HOWEVER, near me there is nothing so picturesque beneath the sky!

VALKYRIEN said...

Love the cloud in your shot! Lovely colors and shape! And I believe the horse is taking a nap - yes!

Great shot!

What a beautiful sleepy atmosphere,
thank you!

( Our snow is covering still everything, it has started a little to become more wet, but nowhere is still a ground to see :) It is very usual yet in this time of year on our latitudes )

Beautiful weekend to you!

Great shot. He looks like he's nodding off. Beautiful sunset, too.

Mojo said...

Well if he's already nodded off, I wouldn't recommend waking him up. That's one powerful looking beast! Whew!

And he's the perfect counterpoint to that gorgeous sunset!

I have to admit shamefully I have some trouble telling between sunset photos and sunrise photos.

Beautiful sunset and composition. I love your ice on the pond as well.

Erin said...

yep...i think i hear him snoring...
beautiful capture there.

Tarolino said...

What an idyllic scene. Trust you to come up with the most enchanting photo each time. The contrast between the greyness of the landscape and the tired horse and the red sky is amazing and yet there are no stark contrasts. How do you do it?

A very beautiful photo. Almost Vermeer-ish in its sense of pause and stillness. Nice work, as usual.
