Pink Moon, Almost/ Sky Watch

Moonlight over an East Gwillimbury farm just after sunset

One advantage to having a spring snowfall is the photo opportunities - we can hardly see any grungy mud as we wait for the spring greenery to grace the landscape.

Last night we had a bonus, a couple of bonuses actually: a nearly full moon (the moon is full today) and fairly clear skies.

Apparently the April full moon is called the Pink Moon because moss pinks bloom about this time of year. Hmmm. Not this early in my gardens, but maybe in yours!

Actually, the moon does look a tiny bit pink.

You are so blessed to have this photo opportunity and to get such a gorgeous result! Just beautiful! After our 4 days of blue skies, the thick clouds are back and we could not even see a moon last night. sigh

PS. Yes I am a little over an hour to the border. If I went north on I5 it is a pretty straight shot and Blaine is the crossing there but I prefer the narrower and windier (is that a work) Highway 9 and cross at Sumas. 9 is more senic and through lots of countryside.
My sis lives in Kelowna, BC but for many years lived in Lethbridge Alberta. MB

Beautiful! Mojo had a blue moon. You have a pink one. I'm sure it's the same moon. Isn't it amazing how it looks different to each of us under whatever conditions prevail near us.

You light up our hearts with such a moonlit sky photograph.

And you shed light on well-worn farm buildings which have seen better days but are still standing - like some of us!

Wonderful shot in all respects.

A lovely, perfect picture, and cross my heart the moon has a pink rim. The picture has a very special ambiance, it tugs on your heart. The lonely farmstead, the bright moon, can you hear a story coming up?

Judy said...

Beautiful! I don't know why but I love taking pictures when there is a fresh snowfall.

Tarolino said...

I had never heard the phraze pink moon before. Well moss flox doesn't flower until about three weeks later on here so that's probably why. Allthough you are right in saying it has an almost pink tone.
So winter has returned to your parts. Pity but it does make for a nice picture.

I have an uncle in Ottawa who spent years sketching the barns and silos all over the province. He's saddened by the disappearance of most of them.
