Q/Alphabe-Thursday

Juvenile herring gull on a QUEST

Q is for QUEST

Young gulls are just like human kids - always hungry. And the snow in this gull's beak is not satisfying it's hunger. A sign on the edge of the parking lot asks humans to please not feed the birds...and that includes gulls. But wait!

 Surprise!

A baggy. Hmmmm.

Circling the baggy

Gulls don't need experience to know something tasty might be inside the plastic. They just know.  However,  this gull didn't know how to get the goodies out of the bag.

Totally frustrated gull

The gull shook the bag, put it down, picked it up, then shook it again...and again.

Good thing the gull didn't want that human stuff anyway!!  (Yeah, right!)

Your"totally frustrated gull" made me smile!so true !
your birds pics are really impressive! The yesterday's ones are really beautiful too, but I have a thing with gulls, especially young ones!

Your photos are, as always, perfection but it was the humour in your narrative that made this really outstanding for me!

Great photos! I was kinda hoping the gull figured out a way to open the bag.

Frustrating! I'm always afraid they will eat the plastic but I guess this guy knew better.

Nice series of photos. Have you heard the saying "I'm as happy as a seagull with a french fry"? :)

Aww, they really are like human kids. I love how you caught that so nicely here!

Great series, but the advice is 100% correct: Don't Feed The Birds! We have the same signs here, and with good reason. It's virtually impossible to eat outdoors here, the gulls just swoop down and snatch your food straight from your hands!

:-) Don't you find that ALL gulls, regardless of their age, have big stomachs? :-)

You are a person of remarkable talent! Leave it up to you to turn litter into photographic art. Kudos!

I was kind of cheering him on, but I guess it is better that he doesn't eat human food...

Beautiful gulls. Poor thing, to get nothing after all that trying. But I agree, better to not eat human food.

Too bad the full could not open the bag. Great photos!

Very fun series. But I'll bet it got the food out of the bag! I mean, really; how gullible do you think I am? (Don't answer that!)

Poor bird. My animals always know when I have treats (or have just eaten something they would like).

You are amazing, EG. You can even understand gull gestures.

Lovely *Q* post – great photography!

The seagulls around here in S Spain certainly know how to open anything containing food!

Now I know where I get my constant hunger from! I must be descended from a young gull.

That was a dumb comment.
