What makes me think this robin has had too many fermented mountain ash (rowan) berries?

I'm guessing he fell out of the tree.
I did see a robin, like this, today, playing with a feather. He would toss it and then with wings flapping, go get it and toss it again.
In all my lifetime I never saw any bird playing with a feather and having as much fun as this one was having. I thought it was an insect of some kind and grabbed a camera and went out. All I found (he left) was this lonesome feather. Wet from his mouth.

So glad your shots have such tremendous clarity, wish I knew how you mamage it. Do you get the birds drunk on purpose so they are too groggy to fly away? It's a puzzlemnt.
I've been doing some Stephen Leacock maths: if A, the bird ate 6tippsy B berries then it follows that C would certainly be wobbly. Therefore, how many leaves are on the maple tree?
Maybe the robin is wondering which berries to eat? ;p
That sugar maple is sure pretty. We don't have any like that here. In fact until late November or later we don't have any trees that change their leaf colors.
