This little lady just cannot get enough of these crabapples. ;-)Many of the squirrels that run, play and eat in my yard are black. Apparently they are the same species as the common grey ones. For sure the grey and black ones all get along well...as well as two squirrels ever get along, that is. ;-)

The neighbors have a crabapple tree in their front yard and we have a ton of squirrels but I have yet to see them eating one apple. I thought they were too sour or something. The robins fight over them in the spring when they have been freeze dried all winter.
Today is theme day and I forgot about it so I just found some of the books I wrote and took a photo and published that. Too late to be included in the group but it worked for me. LOL
I have never seen a black squirrel.
We don't have them here. Just grays, foxes, and flying squirrels.
Well, we have golden mantle squirrels but we call them chipmonks. :D
That picture is unreal, what a shot. The squirrel looks like you cut him out of black paper and stuck it in the tree. Did you?

This lovely squirrel has just about polished off all the crabapples in this tree. She's a piggy, that one.
I have never seen a black squirrel...but I sure enjoy watching squirrels of any kind. The squirrels here don't eat a lot of our crabapples, though they do eat some.
But my daughter's dog likes to eat the ones from her tree that are half rotten--we think they might be starting to ferment:)
I miss squirrels and crabapple trees. Growing up our neighbor had a crabapple tree and we had a walnut tree, the squirrels found no greater joy than throwing those crabapples and walnuts at our Malamute. I think she enjoyed it too.

what a great shot! It seems to me that there are an awful LOT of squirrels in my neighborhood this year, but I have never seen a black one.

They are the same species and they do live quite well together. Last week I had 4 black and 2 grey all playing chase around the maple tree.
We have/had crabapples but no squirrels here. The birds are getting them chopped up.
I wish we had a crabapple tree with squirrels in our neighbourhood. But in our Dutch village there is hardly any room for many trees and whatever trees we have will be cut to make place for a car park.

That's a great pic! I have grey and black squirrels in my yard too...always chasing each other round and round trees, I think they take it in tuns to be the chaser and chasee.
I love the black squirrels, we only have the drab looking ones here.

That is an awesome shot! We've seen some black squirrels in a town about 15 miles away but they haven't made it our way yet. Never got a shot of one yet let alone that close.

We have lots of squirrels in our yard too but no crabapples. They sure are a pretty color.

Cute little critter. I wish we had squirrels, but no such luck. There is a town about 30 miles from here that has mostly black squirrels too. They are just gorgeous.
Seeing black squirrels always puts a smile on my face and reminds me of 'home' in Ohio (Fishin' Guy knows what I mean). In Kent, Ohio, there are LOTS of Black Squirrels. Thanks for making me smile with this fantastic photo!

I would love to see a black squirrel! They look so beautiful! They seem to be in Ohio, too, so maybe some day they will spread to Indiana.
