Sorry, Jenn, but I don't know. Every maple tree on both sides of a north-south country road has a nest very similar to this one. The birds haven't returned to the trees yet.
Hi EG, I know that our squirrels around here live in big nests like that.. But--I don't know the actual size of yours. It is amazing how many nests DO make it through the long winter.

Very nice shot! We've got nests in our oak trees, but I can't get a clear shot of one. Yes, the songbirds are singing - very loudly, in fact.

It looks too big for a robin...but it looks well made like one of theirs. And you probably know a robin's nest.

The nest will soon be occupied again, with a little bit of renovation on behalf of the new tenants.
The sparrows are congregating around my multi-apartment bird house, squabbling over who gets the compartment with the best view.
That's a good point: we have a lot of squirrel nests in our trees here. They are made of leaves, thou'.
We had a big storm in December, though, and we lost trees, as well as the nest I could see from my window. The leaves just blew away.
Believe it or not EG, we have small parrots in a nest like this that have survived the winter! :)
