This street is alive with people in summer because it leads straight to the lake. And the shops offer many items not found in malls. My favourite is the used book store!

I've often said the same thing about Beaufort here on the coast of NC. This looks like a nice place to visit, and I love the "muted" look the half-sepia gives this shot.
I can give you a rough idea of when the bridge was built from my shot. The manor house was completed in 1901, so one would assume the trails and other infrastructure date to the same period. It's possible however that the bridge came later since vehicular traffic would have been a non-issue at that time. I didn't realize the place was quite that old -- I would have put it in the mid 1920's as a guess, perhaps even later. But that date's according to the Blue Ridge Historical ... something or other.

I love the architecture - all the curves and the way the building is finished off at the top.
Looks like the shoe store has accompanied that spot for a long time.

This is just so lovely. I love the old towns that keep their history as well.
We have a town square that has so many original buildings and it's also the county seat...so the old huge granite court house is there as well.
I keep wishing they would realize what a gem they have and refurbish it.

A used bookstore in a resort town would be a goldmine. I love this view of small town living.
What a charming town and street. The sepia adds the right amount of age to these older buildings. The brich arches - nobody designs buildings this nice any more. Nice! And I would patronize a used book store, too...

What a wonderful shot EG. I know the town and love Port Perry. That is the nice thing aabout small town Ontario, many have interesting shops and still have the buildings from the 19th and early 20th centuries.
I'm very fond of old buildings, and always take notice when they are preserved.
