Common around North America, sweet violets (Viola odorata) are actually native to Europe and Asia.
Blooming amidst blades of grassMany gardeners consider them to be uninvited guests and I admit I weed them out of my garden beds but I like them in my lawn. In fact, this is a photo of one blooming in my lawn right now.

seems like spring is taking her sweet time, i am so happy to see any sign!! i like violets. i had an awful corner that nothing would grow in, hidden in the back, they thrived.

I like them also and have the white one along with that color. I leave them, finally flowers after such a long winter. Nice shots.

At first I thought this was an iris, but its a gorgeous little violet. Good photo!
They're lovely little flowers. Around here they are yellow, I wouldn't mind them in my lawn but they only seem to grow in the meadow.
I've noticed the little violets in my lawn are blooming too... well, what passes for a lawn, it seems to be more of a weed bed, but at least weeds are mostly green.

They are so beautiful. When we went for a hike last week we came across yellow stream violets. Like all violets, they are edible and yummy. Maybe they taste sweet. The yellow one's have an aftertaste flavour of bubblegum.
I took a picture of one of these last Friday whilst out and about... I will be posting it soon. I had forgot it's name and you have saved me the trouble of looking it up... thank you.

The Gundam are not only for kids, a lot of men do buy them too. It required patience and skill to put them together and some are quiet expensive. For your info, my son is already 20 years old! lol
Never heard this term applied to them. I've only heard them called wild violets. They're striking by any name though.
