Gate to home out in the openI'm not sure what the purpose of this gate is. There is no fence around the property and the large home is in plain view.

People are doing the same thing here. They also add a couple of lion statues on each side of the gate to act as a deterrent.
One is a rustic gate with modern security and the is modern gate with no security. Well I suppose it will keep a car out but not walkers. Or maybe one would be surprised by something unknown. MB
I like the rustic gate much better than the fancy new one...though I guess the new one will eventually be old :)
I wonder who lives in this dinky little place! :-)
One problem, though. It looks like that security panel could be easily ripped right off...then what would happen?

The other is for shew. I mean the palatial house isn't enough, maybe the back yard has a moat.
I love the first one. I'm intrigued by what is hidden from view. The second on makes me laugh. Gates without fences, not matter how imposing or fancy tend to give me the giggles, ha.
Both gates are very pretty.

Mystery and near stately home. A stately home needs a gate.
I really do wonder about what is behind that top gate..could be good or could be something bad.

What big houses there are in the area -- for I imagine the one with a long driveway to be even bigger than the one that's in plain view!

Love rustic gates, it's not only for protection but it brings elegance to your house.

There is a weird logic about most of these gates. You invest into the customizing, the opening/closing mechanism etc. Then it gets broken and remains so for eternity - in most cases, when the owners are not paranoid...

A very large home in a rustic setting. The people have money or the bank loaned a lot. Nice photo.
Really loved all your pictures. The gate with no fence was comical. I chose a gate for mine too.
The purpose of the second gate is to set off the house. Sort of like a frame around a picture. Awfully big place though. How many families live there, anyway?
Maybe they haven't built the fence yet but put up the gate to keep other cars out? Maybe they stopped because the world is in a recession and they are saving their money for more fun stuff? I don't know but I would love living there IF I had a maid. Ü

I was standing on the street. It's not illegal to take photos from the road. If the owners of the house took my card, THAT would be illegal.
