Zephyr Creek last Saturday morning
The temperature overnight had been minus 18° Celsius (0°F) so you can see ice crystals on the ice in the lower right-hand corner. The water here flows fairly fast so the freezing temperatures haven't been low enough for long enough to freeze all the water here.
Not a super-clear photo here of these crystals, some of which are about 2 inches long. I hope you understand why I decided to NOT walk out on the ice to get a closer shot.

Partly frozen---I think at that temp I would be totally frozen. Those Ice crystals are beautiful. Silver stars--(well white anyway).
Neat shots and please don't go out on the almost ice. MB
Our lake is pretty frozen, different that a moving stream! I have a photo of similar crystals, must post it!
The cats helped me take a walk on the ice, just near shore. what fun!
I envy you those "stars" on the water!
Oh EG, I love those ice crystals... They look like God has dropped little stars all over the place. How neat is that!!!!
Merry Christmas.
Hugs,
Betsy
I absolutely love your second shot! Fantastic!
You got a beautiful shot of the ice crystals-- I'm glad you didn't risk your life to get a better one!
I love the ice stars.
Have a very Merry Christmas.
~~Hugs~~
I think you got a wonderful shot of the ice crystals, and I'm sure glad you didn't walk out on the ice to try and get another one. I like the blue in that first photo as well.
I imagine that soon enough it will be totally frozen. I just love the second photo.
Flows to a quieter tune. Beautiful.
I'm surprised that you got as close as you did. Be careful out there.
(singing) Have yourself a merry little Christmas...
Wow, those crystals fell out of the sky? I've never seen such a thing. The stream is beautiful.
Brrr, I don't like this cold weather. If this continues, it will be frozen over in no time.
Beautiful shot: thanks!
:-)

Our creek is very similar. Fast flowing so some is frozen and some is not. What an awesome shot of the crystals!
Have a Merry Christmas EG and all your family.
