Hoggs Falls
Hoggs Falls is located in a forest preserve in Grey County, western Ontario east of Lake Huron. It's still wild and wonderful with no platforms or fences.
My husband and I weren't planning to visit any falls on Saturday but, as it turned out, we saw three. (Two future posts as well as this one.) Grey County locals say the falls are not as grand as they usually are this time of year - not much rain or snow this past winter. But since I have never seen them before, I thought they were great.
Capturing waterfalls with my lens wasn't as easy as I'd hoped it would be. First off, see the snow? Well, there was also slippery mud - which the mud on my jeans will attest to - and I dared not go too close to the edge to get a better look or to take a better photo. As you can see I was on on the same level as the river BEFORE the water went over the falls. It's 25 feet straight down.
In the first photo, you can see icicles to the right. Here you see them close up, taken with my telephoto lens.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful waterfall with us. Just be careful when getting pictures while walking in slippery mud.

Nice falls. And I could see the icicles in the first pic. Don't you just want to get real close and don't you know you better not. LOL

Yikes! I'm glad that you stayed on safe ground...the mindset of a photographer sometimes doesn't take into account the inherent dangers in getting a particular shot.
What I like about this is that it is relatively "unspoiled" by human hands.
Sounded like a dangerous photo shot. :) Great shots though. I never get tired of seeing icicle shots.
Oh how I love your waterfall pictures, EG.... You know how much George and I LOVE waterfalls. Glad you saw three.... Hope you show them ALL. The icicles are neat also---reminds me of some of the waterfalls we saw around here this winter.

I love the way the following water make the icicles.
I photographed few icicles recently. They are quite hard to picture, sort of speach.
Yours are much nicer. And what a great place. Summer, campfire.. Aah..! (:
I don't see an email for you so I will clarify here what I meant about the lamb and ewe. To move them the shepherd would have had to physically pick up the lamb, transferring his scent to the lamb and interfering with the bonding. Since the rest of the flock was being moved he fenced them in so he could come back and get them later.
