Pearl Crescent butterfly
Here a small butterfly is sipping the nectar of tufted vetch (Vicia cracca). Usually they are attracted to yellow blossoms but this one is happy to sip the nectar from this purple flower.

The purple shows off his beautiful coloring!

I guess it will take food where it finds it.
I think the little swallow was getting ready to leave the nest, that was the first time he had stuck his head up. We left the next day when we got back from the mountains he was gone.
The butterfly must have done the purple flower just so you could get the lovely complimentary color.
Fantastic capture!
Lovely colors and composition!
Great contrast between the butterfly and the purple bloom...that purple really enhances the butterfly!
What a beauty this one is. MB
a great Macro catch and I'm surek it looks so much better against the purple flower

This is a most enjoyable scene to watch nowerdays in the nature :)
Hope you are having a great time!
Wonderful shot. Capturing these guys is like capturing little children. Tough business! This is really great.
What a cute little upside down guy he is! Perhaps he's colour blind? LOL!
perhaps flowers for butterflies are like wine for us, do you want red or white? great macro.
Very nice shot. The colors are so pretty.
How come you're so smart? I would have said it looks like a butterfly flitting about a purple plant!
How beautiful!
I like the representation of secondary colors here. (Orange, green and purple.)
Very beautiful butterfly! :)
I'm loving your Macro Monday :)
Good one. Butterflies are tough subjects -- at least for me. They won't sit still. Your image might benefit from a tighter crop.
