Wildflowers in late July, Kirkfield, Ontario
Kirkfield is a hamlet northeast of East Gwillimbury and on the Trent-Severn Waterway between Lake Simcoe and Balsam Lake. Here are some of the wildflowers growing there last Monday starting with the largest square and working clockwise: purple coneflowers (Echinacea purpurea) in amongst Queen Anne's lace (Daucus carota), bull thistle (Cirsium vulgare), Beardtongue (Penstemon hirsutis) soapwort (Saponaria officinalis) cinquefoil (Potentilla pennsylvanica), and everlasting sweet pea (Lathyrus latifolius).

Wild flowers are so nice because we don't have to tend to them Purple Coneflower has always been a favorite of mine. I like your collage, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. Also the yellow bkie in the previos post is a great find.

I always enjoy not only your photography for nature notes but how good you are about identifying everything for us. I love wildflowers. Sweet peas are much earlier where I live but mine didn't do very well this year. Not sure why as they are usually one of my favorites in the spring.
We don't see these around here! I encourage you to do the 100 Strangers project! It's nerve wracking, but fun.

I like thistles. In the wild, not in the yard unless you call them artichokes of course.

I love sweet peas and once bought a house with a large plant in the backyard. I wanted to take it with me, but didn't since it flourished in that spot.
I love those coneflowers! They are beginning to spread along some of the interstates here..I don't know if birds spread them or if someone did it.
Beautiful..I have planted 4 native purple coneflower this summer and they seem to be doing well....
