Reflections at Kirkfield Lift Lock
PART 2
Continuing from yesterday's post, I am still up on the the observation deck.
These reflections are in one of the water-filled chambers that rise and fall 49 feet taking boats to a higher level if traveling easterly (the highest point on the Trent-Severn Waterway) and to a lower level if traveling westerly.
A boat in the chamber about to head easterly after being lifted up
Looking down from the observation deck, watching boats come and go through the canal
Actually, one boat is is stationary. Its owners are a little to the right (where you cannot see them) eating lunch.

Looks like a nice place to have lunch. I can almost feel that cool breeze off the water.
Great reflections. I'd love to see those locks working and the water getting higher/lower.

I am always fascinated by these things.
Nice park... Must be a great place to spend a family day... Thanks for the sharing !
Locks are fascinating to watch when there is some action going on. Fun too--to see the different size boats all together waiting to move from one waterway to another. Nice series. MB
I wish I was with those girls sitting on the boat RIGHT NOW.
I love the locks system. Nicely portrayed. We're moving to Perth, we'll enjoy the river.
Any sightings of the Lock Ness Monster? ;-)
Ah I like these much better than yesterday's! Sorry, I hope I haven't offended you! Have a great weekend!
Great reflections for the day! Love the last shot in particular! Hope you have a lovely weekend! Enjoy!

Enjoying these up close views of the lock! Fascinating and beautiful!
very beautiful reflections. It looks like a nice place to relax...
The more I reflect on these photos, the more I like them.
Re your comment on Stone Creek: All the people were in the pool, silly!
That does look like a great place to have lunch. Nice view from up above.
Fascinating!
Nice series and reflections...haven't seen the locks this close.
Interesting to see the view from above!
Beautiful watery reflections!
Happy Weekend
Lovely pics! Regarding your comment (thank you) on my other blog; image+textures+PSbrushes+a lot of fiddeling with blending modes=voilá! LOL Couldn't repeat any of them. So you see, I don't really know what I'm doing :D (Couldn't find your email address anywhere) Have a great weekend!
was it 40 or 49 feet? That's very high. Lovely reflection, in the first photo, i was about to ask where are the boats.
I went to Australia, and my bro's boat went through a lock. Don't think it is so high.
wow that looks so beautiful
This is good. I know I've seen this kind of lift lock more recently than the monster one in Panama City in 1972, but for the life of me can't recall where or when. This one really looks quite charming. Nice post. I'll be back!
Love the lines on your reflection!
I like the strong painterly reflections in the first one.
Nice series for reflecting on the slow. leisurely progress through the locks!
Nice fractured reflections and looking down with you in that last one almost makes me dizzy. :)
I've been away a week but I've browsed some nice shots you've done this past week.
Mine's on Carletta's Captures.
Beautiful place, 2nd photo all white and the water it's nice very relaxing.
That second shot is lovely!
