Sunset at Musselman's Lake, Ontario
This is a small lake between Toronto and Lake Simcoe.
During the 1930s, it was a popular weekend destination for the Big Band generation. Now it is lined with many year-round homes as well as cottages. During the summer months there's still a vacation atmosphere with a seasonal restaurant in the old pavilion, and a trailer and RV park near the the lake's public beach.

The reflection is incredible,
Why musselman's lake? Lots of mussels in the lake?
I remember going up here every summer way back in the 70s and early 80s. I bet it has changed a lot since then.
What a beautiful photo with the depth of color but still lots of detail. You are becoming quite the artist with that camera.

This is SO beautiful! It would be a great entry on the Weekend Reflections meme.
I am going to sit there all day today and meditate.
What a beautiful scene. The reflections are wonderful.
Oh it looks like a wonderful place to vacation! Love the lake :D
Beautiful shot. Love the reflections and the big houses too.
So calming.
You are truely an 'artist with a camera', as 'see you there' said.

Fantastic reflection shot. Looks like my kind of place to relax & go fishing.
Have a great week. Thanks for stopping by my page. :)
That's not only a terrific photo but an intriguing history. Can only imagine what sort of fun the Big Band legends had there.
definitely a year-round paradise. what lovely reflection you captured.

Looks like a nice "cool" place.
Oh this is simply marvellous.
P.S.: same question as Ann. I wouldn't have thought that mussles could be found in a lake though.
I would enjoy living there, I think.
I love this photo! You are very good.
I like how the colors and houses reflect across the calmness of the water.
incredible place and reflection.
Beautiful place, I can see why people like it. My guess on the name: a Mr. Mussleman had something to do with the lake at some point in its history.
Very cool reflections, nice place to read a favorite book!
Beautiful scene and wonderful reflection photo.
The reflections in the water make it seem such a tranquil place!
Great lake.

Oh boy, my little heart goes pitter patter looking at this scene...looks just like the Minnesota lakes I remember from my childhood. Had so much fun on them during the summer months. Just a beautiful shot!
Re your comment on green grass: We've had a bit of rain lately, so everything is very green. The golf course is absolute perfection! Nice!
Now you're in my neck of the woods!
In answer to Ann, Cieldequimper and and Dimple.... no mussels in the lake, the area was first settled 1807 by Peter and Jacob Musselman, Mennonites from Pennsylvania. It's a kettle lake, scooped out during an ice age.
I've been appreciating your recent photos of Ontario. You certainly make it appealing to visit.
Thanks for the condolences for our greenhouse.
Pretty lake. Pity those big houses (cottages?) are so close together.
Beautiful shot with the shimmering reflection.
This is great. I like the way the water elongates the reflections.
Beautiful shot. So much in it.
oh, what a beautiful, serene scene. this looks like an enchanting place to spend the summer.
Great capture. The water is calm and I love the reflections
A perfect postcard- picture! the whole place looks so serene and inviting.
This photograph reminds me of Saugatuck Michigan where my father used to play saxophone in the summers during the Big Band era.
Hi EG Wow :-)

Magari fosse la mia !!

All this green, the beauty of the water reflecting the landscape, the trees... Seen from here, it's a refreshing dream!
Great scenery and beautiful reflection.
It is so lovely with the houses reflected in the lake. Is is stocked for fishing and can people swim as well? I imagine the water temperature stays pretty chily, though.

This is a very beautiful place to live. I for one love to stay here as in 365days, the water is so calm and the reflection is perfect. happy Wednesday!
WateryWednesday
I'd like a tall glass of lemonade and an afternoon sitting on the back porch of one of those homes watching the lake. Very nice.
Nice lake & I love the big band era... I have a lot of that kind of music on my playlist at the bottom of my blog! I love DEAN MARTIN... as they used to say... he's so dreamy!!! LoL!!!
Ann and Ciel,
Musselman is the last name of the original settlers. :)
Beautiful pic and reflection. I haven't been there in years.Nice to see it again.
Oh I like the still waters. Your picture is so peaceful. BTW, followed you here today.
