Stalking a Heron/ My World

Heron standing on dock

My husband and I were following a heron as it flew along the shore of Lake Simcoe.  Finally we saw it on a dock. We didn't see it land...but there it WAS! So I sneaked up on it.

Standing quietly

I crept silently around a hedge to take this shot. But wait!

Hmmm. A cobweb!

I was sneaking up on "dock art."

Sneak up on Garden Gnome: Next....

Thanks for the great story and the photos! :-) I would have done exactly the same thing as I love a good heron shot and they are so hard to get. Here is my entry.

ha! It would have fooled me too, for sure. Good thing you "snuck up" on it. ;-)

Couldn't help it! I laughed out loud. Lois Anne didn't even notice. She knows I'm a little nuts.

So funny, EG. Next time I want you to catch it in flight! :-)

Not hard to be fooled by such a realistic offering, but oh the fun it must be to watch others make that discovery!

I would have been fooled as well.

I remember thye herons from when I was a kid. I lived on a boat and they would come perch on the docks...sometimes sleep there overnight. Beautiful birds!

Indrani said...

That was funny. :)
Thanks for the smile you gave.

What a cruel trick that heron played on you. A dummy making you out to look like a dummy.

That's hiarious! I wonder how many people have made the same mistake.
A while ago one of my neighbours had a pair of plastic Canada Geese on the lawn. My dog thought she would seize the rare opportunity for a quick kill, but looked quite sheepish when she realised they weren't real!

Absolutely beautiful catch in all three!!!!!!!!!!

I looked at all your photos for the past two months when I wasn't blogging and I really missed a lot of great photos! The bee below this latest post is fantastic also. I am so glad I saw the 2 sunsets with the benches especially -- and that darling bear bench! Marvelous!!!!!!

I was also impressed with your dragonfly but the damselflies mating was really a unique catch! I enjoyed all your flower collages, birds, butterflies, critters, reflections, the turtle, old cars and the round house! My favorite flower was the British soldier lichen. Never seen such a thing! I am sorry that I missed wishing you a great Canada Day.

I hope to keep up and catch up on a few more people each day but being gone two months, it is a slow process for me. But, I am back to blogging regularly now.

Lovely shot of the heron - the water looks a bit choppy - not a good day for sailing.
