Blue heron FLYING out of my photo

Truth be told, I had originally stopped to take a photo of the bridge but wish I had seen the heron before it heard me. It almost FLEW away before my lens caught it!

FLYING swans at sunset over the harbour at Hamilton, Ontario

The swans were FLYING and our car was too! We were driving along the highway at about 90 k.p.h. (55 m.p.h.)  and these swans were FLYING FASTER than that, so to capture a photo of them, I rolled down the window and quickly took this shot.

FLYING goose

This shot was easier to get because I was standing in a FIELD and the goose FLEW over.

I am linking to Jenny Matlock at Alphabe-Thursday HERE

What fun it is finding you here this week. We are off on Friday with my son, his family, and our best friend for Halloween weekend to hike in Douthat State Park - be back Monday. There is no wi-fi, TV, or cell phone signal out there...just gorgeous scenery and lots and lots of trails for hiking and biking - so will be off the radar for a bit. Your heron flying and the swan photos are wonderful as all of yours are. Will take lots of shots to bring home though they will never be nearly as fine as yours. Have a great weekend.

Nice shot, EG. I have a hard time with flying birds because by the time I get them in my viewfinder all I see is the tail end.
The pic with the Heron is very nice. MB

I sat and looked at this photo for several minutes. It has many elements to it and I found it fascinating. It seems to be perfectly balanced with the colors of autumn in all the various planes.

Great shots, I've seen flying herons and geese but never swans.

Fantastic Flying Bird Shots! How fun to capture them when least expecting them. I'm always pointing my NeatONikon out the car window. I'm always amazed at the outcome. Thanks for visiting my Texas Friendly post.

I think you got some great pictures of the flying birds. I'm glad you were able to capture the heron, and I appreciate what you had to do to capture the swans.

Nice pictures. A blue heron lives at my grandmother's summer home. We see him all the time. After flamingos, they're my favorite birds.

And a beautiful, calming stop on our little journey through Alphabe-Thursday.
