Central Ontario last weekend
Wooden bridge over a small creek leading to: orange maple leaves, holes made by a hungry woodpecker looking for tasty bugs, calico aster (Aster lateriflorus), bittersweet (Celastrus scandens) and climbing nightshade (Solanum dulcamara).
FYI: As strange as it may seem, both the yellow and red berries are sometimes known as bittersweet, which is the reason I like to include the botanical names.

"October is nature's funeral month. Nature glories in death more than in life. The month of departure
is more beautiful than the month of coming - October than May. Every green thing loves to
die in bright colors."
- Henry Ward Beecher
things are dying beautifully in your part of the world
I like the picture of that little bridge.
I love the bridge, and the idea of walking through the dry leaves...love the crunchy noise they make:-) It's a beautiful collage!
This is a wonderful mosaic of the October woods.
Beautiful path with that bridge. Are the berries edible?
Gorgeous collage. You da master!!!
The path in the woods is excellent---I want one too. MB
This is a perfect postcard, ma'am.
Very well done EG, I love the bridge, a passage to paradise!

I love how you have displayed your photos, all so beautiful and showing my favorite time of the year.
You do these mosaic/collages so very well! I can almost smell the air, hear the crackle of leaves beneath my feet, touch those berries...
How 'bout I trade you this for a heron in flight? :-)
I'm utterly amazed at how you know all these names.
The picture of the bridge really captures the idea of October for me.

A very nice mosaic. All the photos fit together so nicely for an autumnal scene!
What a pretty mosaic...very interesting.I could use that the little bridge right here at the house....we need a designated footbridge so I do NOT have to straddle those spread apart beams on the drive across bridge when I walk up to the mailbox. Loved the woodpecker holes... and the idea that both berries are known by the same name is a puzzler. Thanks for your notes about my leaves. I thought that shot was poor because of the steps being so off plump. I used it because of the coloration of the wood and leaves against one another. Now I feel better :-)
I love the little bridge. I always enjoy seeing what's going on in your neck of the woods.
beautiful mosaic!
I always love the mosaics, but the info is terrific. I think I have the same aster growing near the woods and now I have a name for it.. yea... Michelle
