Elora Mill Inn, Elora Ontario
Towering five storeys above the Grand River in Elora, Ontario stands the Elora Mill Inn, built circa 1840. Until 1972, it operated as a grist mill but it is now an elegant country inn and restaurant. Many of its 32 guest rooms are furnished with antiques or period reproductions, and some offer fireplaces as well.
The inn is situated on the Grand River beside a ramp waterfall along the beautiful Elora Gorge. (A ramp waterfall is where water slips over a steep rock face without losing contact with the rock surface.)

A few rooms face the river where guests can view the falls and gorge. A fireside dining room overlooks the falls, which the mill still uses to generate its own electricity.

No, I have never stayed there. But I did enjoy hiking along the paths on the opposite side of the river.

This does seem like a cozy place to stay loaded with history and charm by scenic beauty. I’ve never seen geese this close to a waterfall before. Pardon the pun but they look a little “on edge”. :)

It is an elegant and interesting place for sure. I'm sure the rooms and the food and the views are splendid, but other than hiking, what would a guest do when staying there?

By the way Amy and Donnie are both golfers, although she usually serves as his caddie on Sundays. He is an excellent golfer.
Me again re your question on Ocala DP: I recently purchased what I was told was the best point-and-shoot on the market, the Canon S95. It is a fantastic piece of equipment. One option it offers is to shoot with a fisheye effect. That's what I used. Simple. Just turn a dial a couple of clicks.
Super photos of a most unusual place. Imagine turning a grist mill into an inn. Wonderful. I love the fact that they use the waterfall to generate their own electricity!

This is a charming old building. I'm glad to read that it's being put to use and being enjoyed as an inn. To many of these wonderful old place are just left to crumble. It's too bad that more aren't preserved in this way.
