Closeup of Juvenile mute swan
Sort of a "teenager", this mute swan is not yet an adult so still wears brownish feathers and its beak has not yet turned orange. I guess it must have felt sufficiently camouflaged to let me get right up close as its feathers do resemble dirty snow...kind of. It is watching me closely though!

I am a anatidae freak, so I really like these images! Swans are such graceful creatures. Terrific photos!

Wow, such a beautiful bird! I love the faint colors. Great capture! Thanks for stopping by! :)
You never cease to surprise and delight me.
Wow, what great shots. I love those beautiful brown feathers mixed in with the white, and the dusting of snow on his head is perfect.
A beautiful Swan even as a teenager. And he sure is watching you.
We have lots of Trumpeter Swan here. They have black beaks and black legs and love to play in the mud. MB
great shots!

Fantastic swan macros! Love seeing white swans and their young! In myworld, I only see black swans!
This swan has lost his urge to fly south for the winter. Too bad.

Have a super day!!
Interesting, the juvenile looks just as big as the adult but clearly has different markings. I always learn something here.

Great shots on the swan.
Beautiful photos!
I totally love the close up and the one of the adult mixing up with the mallards :)
You were fortunate. Most birds figure I'm for the birds and head south. Or north. Or east. Or west.
Lovely photos. So why do they call them "mute"? Or have you explained that before?
Your first picture is absolutely incredible.
Great close up on the young Swan !
I´m come to think about HC Andersen story/fairytail about the ugly duckling that grew up to a beutiful swan :)
