Bird watching on the north shore of Lake Ontario
It was a cold day but these birders were bundled in warm clothing, excited because they could see common mergansers and some bufflehead ducks in the distance.
The A marks where Port Darlington is located
Looking southeasterly the sky looked bluer
Canada geese and mallards were close to the beach and five swans (I can see only one in this photo) patrolled the waters a bit further out.

They must REALLY love birds. brrrrrrrr!
They are serious about their craft to be out in that cold! I love the swan.
I wonder if they brought along bread crumbs? Great winter photo along the water's edge!
I would be jumping around to stay warm and all that jumping would scare all the birds away! Thanks for the map perspective.
Oh good grief! Don't those dumb birds know enough to come south like other Ontarions? Sheesh!
Fun pitchers, though!
Never did understand people who go out to watch birds without a camera. Some part of their brain must be missing! ;-)
The first photo is amazing. LOTS of birds there! It's as crowded as Tokyo Metro.
Nice shots. I have never seen so many ducks in one place before. How fun!
Looks like a cold but pleasant day for bird watching.
Very devoted bird watchers! That would make a great painting, with the 3 figures in the winter landscape.
Lovely shots of a beautiful view. Thanks for the map!
I guess they are more used to that cold than me...
What terrific captures! They look like they're having a great time in spite of the cold -- and it does look COLD! Hope your week is off to a great start! Enjoy!

Lovely post. I don´t know so much about birds but I do love them, there songs and life in my garden.
Photography and bird watching do go hand in hand. Lovely scenes viewed from the comfort of my warm lounge.
I like seeing passionate people like these birders enjoying their "passion".
Lots of birds for photography. They sure have those big "bird" lens.
It looks freezingly cold.
I magnified the top photo. That is some lens they are looking through. Great photos.
Looks colder there than here....and I thought it was cold enough here.
How wonderful to see all those birds. We have a lot of mallards, coots and swans over here.At this time of the year they flock together begging for food.
Terrific shots. Very dedicated bird watchers, I do most of my watching from my window.
Many times I've stood on the shores of that Lake in the winter. Good photo. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River.
Looks a bit cold out for birding. I'm either an fair weather or window birder.
Delightful captures! Oh … to have feathers like these birds to stay warm all winter!
It looks really cold, thanks for the map it is interesting to see where the photos were taken. It looks like the sort of place I would like to visit.
in a month they might start coming back to Sweden. That feels good. The lake looks great now. :)
Looks like a really cold day on the lake! Nice shots.
watched on TV, Gordon ramsey went to shoot Canadian geese.
Bird watching is always so interesting! Wonderful photo, this one and the one below!
Today I've enjoyed a walk in the sunshine and the snow, lovely!
Have nice days! :)
The birders are almost as interesting as the birds they're watching. I'm not sure I would be out there on such a cold day.
Cold, but very beautiful and I'm sure worth being outside to see that!
Dedicated birdwatching, and dedicated birdwatcher-watching, too.
Nice shots.

This is georgeous. What a place to see and to think this part of Canada will not see the geese come home for a three more months.
Lovely Lovely post.
There were plenty of birds to watch but I thought they were supposed to fly south in the winter. They didn't get very far.
This looks cold! But pretty too!
That is a lot of birds to watch!
Cool shots!
How very serene! And you still have open water... Ours is all iced over.
looks very cold, nice photos
Have a nice week,
Greetings, Bram

lovely shots,
True birders are a hardy lot. I am not one of them.
love the composition on that first one. And what fun photos of the birds and the bird watchers.
Good thing there is some open water. It makes for great birdwatching.
