Mute swan and hooded mergansers
Last Friday was another day with temperatures below freezing on the north shore of Lake Ontario. Likely the swan will stay here for the summer but the hooded mergansers (male on the left, female on the right) are just passing through on their way to northern Ontario.

Great shot, EG....at first glance I thought that could not be cignets!..and it wasn't...but sure thought so at first.
They are swimming in close formation...
I can't wait for the weather to get warm enough for me to join the swans and ducks...
I don't know why they don't freeze solid right in their tracks!
