ANCHOR and wave wind vane at a yacht club on Lake Ontario
Typically ANCHORS have broad hook-like arms that when dropped by chains, cables of ropes into a body of water bury themselves in the bottom providing a firm hold.
But in these photos you see three ways ANCHORS can also be used as an attractive motif.

Nice anchor-themed post, the weather vane is simply great!
That weather vane is really nice!
Weather vanes are so cool, the anchor with the wave is amazing, hope you find many others to show us! ;-)
Anchors have always had a certain appeal to me, I don't know why. I don't live near water - don't own a boat and don't aspire to do either...but a well positioned anchor in art, furniture, clothing etc...has always made me smile!
Love the photos!! Even though I am land locked in Kansas I can appreciate the appeal! Great post.
What a terrific post, EG. I have a thing for anchors - don't know why - just like 'em. The weather vane is very cool and very unique!
You get an A +!!!
coming from a seaside town I have seen anchors used in a lot of ways. I like the fence in your picture.

Great anchor photos here!
Anchors are extra special in my little brother's life...he is active duty Navy, so at his wedding, the had a beautiful ice sculpture of an anchor that was part of the receptions decor and for a wedding gift, I created a framed art piece using their names in an anchor.
Blessings & Aloha!

Love this post - being a Navy brat! And as a quilter who loves vintage quilts - you often come across appliqued or embroidered anchors.

What a sharp eye you have, my dear. I don't think I would have even noticed the one on the weather vane or the fence, but don't they look neat!
