On our way home from Upstate New York yesterday, we happened upon this old, rusty water tower standing in an old fenced-off field. It stands fairly close to lake Ontario in one of Canada's largest cities (Mississauga - next door to Toronto) so it's only a matter of time before this tower comes down and a tall building goes up.

It's a good one. And, it has been a bill board, but someone has gone up to paint over most of whatever was written there. There's a country song about that but I don't remember the title. It has to do with climbing the water tower to paint over what is there to save your sister's honor. ah, the old days....
That's a beautiful shot, especially with no processing. Great old tower, too. It's sad that its days are numbered.

There are many places in my town that have disappeared over the recent development frenzy, and now I wish I had gone around with my camera and made a record of them.

I'm glad you caught it, too! I love the old relics which are scattered all over this continent, and I wish fewer of them would succumb to urban and suburban sprawl. I suppose to some they are eyesores, but I think they are beautiful.

It sure looks like a relic to me. I was thinking the tower might be older than the Mayor Hazel. Is that possible?

It's a wonderful shot....and I'll take the old water tower over any building, if you please. lol
I'm glad you were able to capture a photo of it before it's taken down. A part of history that our great-grandchildren will never see, only in photos.
Someone said it looks like a painting, it sure does.
