Solitary sandpiper taking a bath
As you have probably already guessed, I was crouched down behind some rocks when I took these photos.
Is this sandpiper admiring its own reflection?
I am linking to Watery Wednesday where you can find many more watery photos.

You must have been there a while, to get such candid shots!
You voyeur!
This post could be used in the "Reflections meme" It must have been windy, it looks like his wings are ruffled from the wind in the top photo.
i love these types of birds. so entertaining.
What a lovely looking bird. Crouching down behind rocks is a sign of true dedication to your craft. Fortunatley for me I don't have to try that. LOL!

A good job of sneaking up on this fellow and getting a good shot of him. He has an interesting beak with which to hunt.
Well done
Wonderful shots! It certainly looks windy!
that first photo is so cute with the feathers all fluffed up!
Great detailed photos...I'm fascinated by the long bill on the bird.
A bit like Narcissus, I'd say.
i think he is trying to check out if his feathers are all in place. beautiful shots from behind the rocks., i really like the bridge shot in the post below
I dunno...but I have a feeling he was watching you out of the corner of his eye...
Nice shots of a cute sandpiper.
What a difference in the feathers in the first and 2nd shot. The first one shows all of its little ruffled feathers. :-)
I love sandpipers, great capture.
Yes I think he is content with what he sees ;)
A narcissistic bird, this is new!
Love your sandpiper! And the Welland Canal!
Lovely bird and pictures. I never see this bird here..
everyone gives in to moments of vanity :)
i have seen them from afar but your images are so close i heart them.
Lovely captures and reflections of the Sandpiper.
amazing :)
Excellent shots!
What a great capture and love the reflections.
You've really captured the eyes of the Sandpiper in that first shot!
I love the wind ruffeling his feathers.
I love the first one with showing the ruffled feathers, that is so cute. Great reflections also.
I think he was using the water as a mirror to watch you. what a nice shot. MB
So beautiful! Have a nice day! :)
The sandpiper is pretty, no wonder it wants to admire its own reflection in the water ;-)
EGWow, our spy among the birds! :o)
Pretty pictures!
I particularly like the ruffled feathers in Number One.
Water, water in the sand, who's the fairest in the land?
That big white eye ring really stands out in the top photo. Don't think I've seen it so clearly before.
You're obviously good at blending into the background!
Your sand piper is precious. You were so lucky to have the rock to crouch behind because these captures are wonderful.
stunning!
those photos put me in the best of moods!
have a great day!
betty
I think I may have seen these birds before - don't they scurry really fast across the sand? hmmm. anyway, I love these photos.
Love your first shot -looks interesting with his feathers out of place:)
Well, of course, you have a bath, then look at your reflection to see if everything is done properly! Super photos! I love sandpipers.
