Mural on the post office, Midland, Ontario
Downtown Midland boasts outstanding murals on many of its buildings including its post office. I LOVE this one depicting the old post office with the Midland postmark. Artist Fred Lenz painted this mural and 33 others on Midland buildings, a few of which I have also photographed and a few more I want to go back and find.

I love small-town murals. Lufkin, about 40 miles from me, has several in its downtown area that I've featured on my blogs. I'm always looking for them when I visit new towns. This one is special with its postmark.

That is really neat...Heading to Illinois we took a new route and went through a town that had oodles of murals around the town.

I love this artist’s work. There is a great sense of authenticity to the painting. The job of the postman (woman) has undergone many changes over decades. But the era of the painting seems to carry the most neighborly charm. This post is very timely, indeed, as in the BC postal workers might be going on strike!
