June 29/ Nature Notes

Seen at the edges of the forest this week

The largest square: white admiral butterfly. Moving clockwise: devil's paintbrush,  Canada anemone, dame's rocket. white admiral (again but this time with wings spread out) and milkweed

Is dame's rocket perhaps related to the violet? I'm always amazed at your talent for knowing the names of all these specimens.

Your collage is always beautiful and the butterfly with its shadow on a leaf is perfectly lovely. I'd like to capture a butterfly that way.

Such lovely flowers. I just planted a bunch in my yard yesterday. The Superstore had such a good sale, I mightgo back and get some more. :)
