Hummingbird Moth/ Macro Monday

Clearwing hummingbird moth

This hummingbird moth was in a hurry, darting from flower to flower, hovering for a few seconds to sip nectar.

Another view of the moth

Very nice to see a species I'm not used to - and very nice presented too!

Sorry about your oops problem!

Aren't they just the weirdest things. They are pretty hard to photograph, I have found. None on this side of the mts but they are in eastern washington. I do have some pics I took several years ago.

Never heard of them until now. Thanks for sharing.
Yes the yellow car. I was trying to remember who posted the the photo of the old taxi. It was you. I talked to the owner. He told me to take as many photos as I want. Apparently he gets numerous visits from photographers. It's an amazing place.

Marvelous captures of this beautiful moth... they move so fast! I've tried to snap photos of them and know how hard it is to get a good result so I'm VERY impressed with these! (thanks for stopping by to visit my hoverfly)

Great shot :D I have seen one here recently but, it was too fast for me. I saw a few in Greece too but wasn't quick enough outside but, one day saw one flying around a supermarket. I finally captured (a pretty awful pic) where it took a liking to Armani sunglasses. At least it made all the guys laugh in the wildlife forum :)

What is this? I haven't heard of such a critter. But I'm impressed...I can't even get a good picture of a hummingbird, much less a moth. You rock!
