Peephole: railroad tracks
I like to play with line and shapes as well as with light and would LOVE to own a fisheye lens. But I don't. A peephole is a much cheaper alternative and a fun way to see if I would really USE a fisheye lens if I had one. Luckily, I have a husband who likes to play too.
How he made it:
1. We purchased a metal 160° peephole with glass lenses at a hardware store.
2. He drilled a hole in a wooden disk (he's a wood turner) that he fit inside a step up ring that fits in front of my camera's 18-55mm zoom lens.
Peephole: Gamesbridge lock on Trent-Severn Waterway
The Gamesbridge photo was taken with the zoom lens at 18mm. As you can see I did not hold the camera level. OOPS!
Peephole: Kirkfield lock on Trent-Severn Waterway
The Kirkfield photo was taken with the zoom lens at 55mm. I really like how the straight lines of the metal frames on the liftlock are curved in this photo.

EG you are genius!
PS: So is your husband.
very creative. i would like to have several more lens than what i have, good alternative. i think photoshop has fish eye in it, will have to check it out.
Wow, these photos are terrific, a perfect example of creativeness! Your husband is so inventive. Why don't you apply for a patent?
These are marvelously creative, EG. Nice experiments. Now you have something to put in those round picture frames!
I like the effect this gives. It is fun to experiment with photography.
very creative and crafty!
Way coo;. EG. Isn't it fun to play around. My G-son made a similar device. Lots of fun and your shot are excellent. Curvaceous. Remarkable. MB
You are definitely a "Wow!" I'm looking forward to more photos like these from you. You have a creative mind as does your husband. You're a terrific team!
Very interesting. Now I have to figure out what a step up ring is!
It´s a wonderful perspective:)

Fantastiskt! Du får nog ta patent på det.Ha de gott. Anita
Very interesting effect. I like it!
A fun photographic effect and a cool photographer's "toy" to use!
I love it. Now I'm insanely jealous.
I've had my eye on a Lomo fisheye camera for some time. Maybe if I drop enough hints I'll get it for Christmas.
Ah, some creative innovation, those images are delightful and I particularly like the first one!
God bless you!
Cezar
These images are too cool!
Very, very nice!
Love these.
Wonderful idea and pictures!
Well that is just amazing! I'm not sure I could put that together! love love the bridge!
I've experimented using binoculars held in front of my little point'n'shoot camera's lens.... quite good results. Love your idea of using the peephole!
Very creative fix to take fun photos.
Darryl and Ruth :)

A neat and inexpensive idea. Fisheye lenses give a nice effect but you'll soon get bored with it. As Dylan says "take a tip from one who's tried"!
How cool is this! Love the railroad tracks.
You are very creative. And this one looks very nice than fisheye effect. I have a newer camera and it has a fish eye effect I rarely use it. Great one with this EG. Happy Monday!

Both you and hubby are very creative. I'd not have thought of this. They have cheapo "fisheyes" which work fairly well...I bought one for about $85.
But, you know, this did a very good job! I love fisheyes...they're lots of fun. But a good lens is very expensive...
Wow...way to get creative! I love the results!
Great shots and very creative/inventive!!
That is so uplifting: to make something that is so efficient and successful. It will give you ( and us) great enjoyment.
That sure is a fun idea. I especially like how the tracks turned out.
Now that IS creative! Wonderful WONDERFUL peephole captures. I really find it inspiring to come across photography work like yours. Thank you.
What fun! I really like the effects you obtained.
Oh my goodness, I have never seen anything like this. It is just wonderful, and what a clever hubby you have! You have gotten some wonderful photographs with it.

The peephole Waterway shot is really neat!

What fun! Who needs a fish eye when you've got this?
These are absolutely wonderful!!
I am awestruck. That is so cool. I love how you did that. It makes the photos so interesting. V
