WEIRD WARTS on this carved pumpkin

Yes, it IS a bit early for jack-o'-lantern photos but I hope you will humour me as these pumpkins have WARTS - a W-word!

These warts are not  a wicked pumpkin disease but instead merely a build up of sugars under the skin.

And more WONDERFUL WARTS on this pumpkin

Earlier in their lives, these pumpkins looked normal - smooth and green. But when they started to turn orange, sugars inside the pumpkins extruded the skins, cracking them to form warts.

Three WEIRD WARTY pumpkins

Perfect for Halloween, don't you think?

They are great and you are full of information! I did not know what caused the bumps before this explanation. . . They are perfect thing to have for these evil looking creatures! AND they didn't cost more because of the bonus! lol

It is not too early to show pumpkins --they are a part of the Fall harvest.

Now those are pumpkins with character! Love 'em.

Not too early either - we have wagon loads and cart loads popping up everywhere. A fun time to shop.

Did you carve the warty pumpkins?

You are REALLY one up on most of the rest of us bloggers! I didn't know anything at all about the sugar content...interesting.
