Back side of holey old barn
I love old barns and am lucky that I live in a rural area where there are plenty for me to photograph. The more holes the better and this one sure was holey!
I took this photo more than a couple of years ago but was never happy with the photos (I do hope I'm a way better photographer now!) until I decided to try the filter in Photoshop Elements called Pencil Sketch.
Close up of first photo's left-hand side
In layers, I applied Pencil Sketch, next duplicated the layer and then multiplied the two and merged down.
Next I changed the opacity to somewhere between 70 and 80% and voila! some colour from the original layer came through.
Foundation on left-hand side
I repeated the process for all four photos and now I am happier with the look.

Neat results. Sure is fun to see what can be done with a photograph!
That is a lovely result. What fun to "fix" a photo! Your photos are always beautiful. Greetings Jo
Very, very nice!
Great job I love it
Some great results with that experiment. Thanks for the tip, I'm off to try it with a few bird pictures.
Love the end result!
Sometimes, this kind of treatment is the only thing to do to satisfy your sensibilities about what a photo should look like. Great fun and you did a nice job!
EG,these are great.
ALmost like a cartoon, cool!
Great effects,
What a techie you are! Great results.
Very cool, EG. Does it take long to do all the layering etc? Of course I do like the colors in the previous post. LOL MB
You did a wonderful job with this picture. The pencil sketches are exquisite.
Great effect. As you may know I'm a compulsive tweaker of pictures, but I never thought of that one.
"more holey than Godly," as I would say!!!
Great tweaking of the photo,
Gill
I love what you've done. Very creative application of the tools you have.
Oh I love all of them. I am with you a holey barn always makes me smile. We are lucky to have an abundant amount of beautiful barns in Ontario. I have been documenting them as a lot are falling down never to return again. This makes me sad but being a big barn owner I know how much money it costs to keep them up. Sad but reality.
Sorry long comment :) B
These could be illustrations for a children's book. A new career for you, EG!
Nice creations here. I love everything that can be done with processing.
Nice touch...
Good for your for working at it! Well done.
Amazing what you do with Photoshop. It is probably a good thing I don't know how to use it. Can you imagine the hours I'd spend?

I like the way these came out. It has been a while since I played with any of the filters in elements, perhaps I will have more time as soon as the weather drives me inside.
hm, that filter was good for the barn shots. Love it. :)
This seems to be a fun solution to those not so perfect photos!
Now that's a lot of natural light, and I LOVE what you did with these. They look like sketches!
Thank you so much for sharing these today at The Creative Exchange.
Have a great evening!
lisa.
Fun tweaks!
My tweak tools are drooly dog apps which is pretty fun too.
And I love barn photos 'cause we don't have those here. We only have shanties.
That really changes up the photos! I spent a long time looking at them, unsure of what I felt, and they grew on me! I decided my favourite is the third one, with the foundation stones!!
Your processing shows off all the details in the photos!
Great choice of how to process these photos.
I am glad to see that you are having fun with the filters. I do like what you have done here. The photo looks like an illustration. Way to go. V
