Geese and mallards are still swimming in the local waters and will hang around until the rivers, lakes and ponds freeze over. No kidding, there's no skating!
Please visit Michelle at Rambling Woods for more NATURE NOTES.
Perhaps today is more ice on our lakes. Last Sunday,I visited Rouge Park and noticed some frozen areas on the pond. Pls. Take a look... http://guildwood.blogspot.com/ Happy New Year and thank you for your visits and comments. - Cheers Gisela.
Hmmm...those darn ducks don't defer from dancing on the water even when there's no ice. Where's the ice? I thought you lived in Ontario? What's going on here?
I think all the water will be frozen in the next week as I am sure you have our cold weather...Have a very healthy and Happy New Year EG.... hugs.. Michelle
East Gwillimbury is a rural town less than an hour north of Toronto, Canada's largest city.
My family calls me CameraGirl because I take my camera with me wherever I go.

I don't think we are going to see a solid freeze this winter. Then again, in the past have seen it hold off until January.
Beautiful mosaic. Love the pretty green heads on the mallards. I am hoping we do not have a real cold winter.
Looks like the ducks may be the happiest of all about the weather. You featured these little creatures so very well!!

Great shots. The bright green on the bird in the upper right really pops out.

This is a wonderful collage!
Nice pictures, no problems abouth thin ice here...
Last night was the first ice I've seen all winter - and it was pretty thin over those puddles! the ducks must be happy.
Anyone who would consider trying to skate on that pond would deserve to be wet. Gorgeous birds!
looks to me like that ice is really really thin. LOL

Cute shots!
Brrr!
Some of the geese look like they're going to go sliding around on the ice. I enjoyed these winter shots.
The signs made me think of a line from a Jethro Tull song "skating on the thin ice of life". Aren't we all.
That is brown. I have taken photos of No Skating Thin Ice signs in the middle of the summer. The birds seem happy!

I love your mosaics. I wish I still could make them. Nice shots and no I don't think I will try skating there. MB
Hi there nice birds - I wonder if they skipped school as ducklings and just can’t read!
Cheers - Stewart M - Australia
Lovely captures! The green of the mallards is striking!
I am glad we have no ice to worry about. And it´s good for the remaining birds. :)
