Old fire engine, Mount Albert Santa Claus Parade
Mount Albert (a village in the Town of East Gwillimbury) has tons of spirit! Even though East Gwillimury has a Santa Claus parade every year (this year held on November 20th), Mount Albert has one too (this year on December 3rd).
Kids love being in a parade
I'm pretty sure last Saturday there were more kids in the parade than watching it. How can you not love a bunch of smiling happy kids?
The above photo was one of many groups but I included this one because the kids were dressed in such bright colours. As you can imagine, there were also groups of shepherds, kings, wise men, elves...well, you get the idea.
Kids and adults on a float
Okay, these floats didn't look polished like the ones you'd have seen in the Toronto Santa Claus Parade, but these were still fun. PLUS the participants were allowed to toss or hand out candy here, which I heard was illegal in Toronto.
Dog in sheep's clothing
Even animals were dressed up for the occasion! A few dogs along the route barked in approval.
It was a big day for smiles and waves!

Just love the vintage fire engine.
Law makers sit around determining that throwing candies is criminal? [Shaking my head and rolling my eyes in utter disbelief.] THESE kids look like they're having a ball! I did notice the BRIGHT colours on the kids in the first shot. And the red firetruck... what a charmer!
What fun fotos!
There is nothing like a village parade. Great shots. B
how fun :)
This looks like a really fun event. I'd much rather go to a homegrown parade like this one than the one in Toronto. I'm just not into all those crowds! :)
love the dog/sheep and that fire truck. we don't have Christmas parades down here, Santa comes to town the Saturday after thanksgiving, at Bray park and drops from the sky in a helicopter.
How fun! I wish our little town had a Christmas parade. Great pictures!
Oh, what a fun event and I loved the rainbow decoration on the vehicle packed with kids and grownups! There was a Santa parade yesterday in Vancouver that, by all accounts, was a huge success. Since I missed being there it was extra nice and timely to see your post today. Clearly, the spirit lives!
What a wonderfully old fashioned parade. One of the joys of small town living.

What great fun!
«Louis» likes the old fire truck. He thinks it is probably a 1951 GMC.
looks like a lot of community fun!
Great fun.But who'd do that to their dog?
This looks like so very much fun, fabulous fire engine, kids smiling, and a dog in sheeps clothing - hysterical (and yet warm). I have to agree with Francisca on the candy thing - really? Great post today.
Very colorful lovely shots.
Local parades are such fun, eveyone gets into the spirit.
Another Canadian tradition that I miss. We don't have Santa Claus parades in Poland, but we have St. Nicholas day on Dec. 6th.
What a joyfull moment! The firemen's car is fabulous! and I like the dog dressed as sheep! HAHA!
Looks like fun, there nothing like a parade to lift the spirits. Love the old fire engine.
Wonderful photos of community spirit!
Beautiful, colourful photos of a great community occasion!
Oh, what fun! Just seeing the pictures of all those smiling, happy children is enough to make my day! Love your photos as always and the holiday spirit you share with us! Have a wonderful day and week!

What a great parade. I love seeing all the children enjoying taking part in it. Far better than some of the overblown ad oriented ones.
I think every small town has one. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Makes me want to sing!
I really love it... the colors and the fun!
Greetings from Holland,

And they had a nice day for it! Love the fire truck.
Love the firetruck! Thank you for sharing a bit of your world. I just love parades.
Merry early Christmas!
What a lot of fun, a Santa parade is a must for the Christmas holiday. I am sure the kids loved marching in the parade and the dogs too. Great photos.
The dog in sheep's clothing is priceless!
What a great tradition. Love that dog.
Oh what fun a parade is. Look at the bright colors the children are wearing. A happy time. MB
Lovely happy pics. Thanks for sharing and for visiting my blog.
That does look like fun, and much more personal than the big-city parades.
I bet it was fun to watch this parade...I wonder why some of the parades have stopped handing out candy...our Little Italy parade used to give out lots of candy and then all of a sudden, they were not allowed to do it any more.
You don't get much more Christmassy than these shots EG, it's what it's all about, community spirit, the colours are brilliant.
So colourful! And it looks like everyone's having SUCH fun!!
How fun! The fire engine is awesome and so are the kids!
This is an important part of making community.
Oh, what the lovely images! Specifically i like the first photo :)

Thanks for sharing this fun parade with us.
That's so wonderful - more in the parade than watching it.
Love those old fire engines and who doesn't love a parade? Looks like lots of cold fun!
They all remind me of endearing old greeting cards...very wonderful, warmth to each of these selections. Thank you always for your shares~
