Winter Kayaker/ Watery Wednesday

 Kayaker entering Whitby Harbour

Not everyone puts their kayak away and hangs up their paddles for the winter months.  This hardy kayaker must believe in the proverb "There is no bad weather, only the wrong gear."

 A closer look

Passing me where I stood on the pier

I am linking to Watery Wednesday where you can find many more watery photos.

He looks so small in all of that water. Scary to me. It sure looks cold!

Boy, he is definitely much more hardy than me! The first photo really makes the story of the big, big open water and the little, little frail guy out in it.

Such a small boat.

Great capture!

Reminds me of winter dives... as in scuba dives in icy waters.

Amazing shots. Great captures. :)

He sure looks dressed for it. I bet it's peaceful being the only one out there.

He is indeed a brave soul; perhaps a bit foolhardy too. I particularly like the last photo. His choice of color if his apparel is wise since it can be seen from afar in an emergency.

THere is a sturdy soul, not to mention you being out there in the cold!
Great photos.
Love the Family Day photos, too!

Cheers from Cottage Country East!

Fascinating series which proves my theory that some Ontarions are just plain nuts!

and some Ontarians are just full of adventure. I would not be one of them, though.

That takes a very hearty (or fool hearty) soul! I'll go with the former nor the latter... love your shots!

No way you'd get me in that thing. That is really cold water!

This looks like a very cold hobby. I can think of other things that would be more fun, even though I do like kayaking in warm weather.

Not sure I would want to be out this time of year. In the first couple of shots it is so choppy you can barely see the kayak. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
